Wish that other review had been posted before I took my Onkyo receiver in for service. My 3-month old Onkyo AV Receiver stopped sending video to the TV through the HDMI out. Talking to the techs at Crutchfield, we moved cables around and determined it was probably the upconverter, since component in would go to component out, but not through HDMI out, as it had been doing the past 3 months. Rather than mail it in to Crutchfield, I called Just Service and told them the problem as diagnosed. This is where I should have walked away: the tech on the phone told me my no receiver can take a component signal and send it out as HDMI. Even after I told him that's how it had been working for the 3 months up to now, he stuck to his guns that it didn't do what I had watched it do for 3 months. Unbelievably arrogant and rude, but my other options were to box it up and ship it, or drive 40 miles to a different service center. When I took it in and described the problem and gave him the solution, he just repeated ""I can't promise I can make it do something it doesn't do. It can't take component input and send it out HDMI.""\r \r After 90-days of checking the ""convenient"" online repair update, I finally just called and said I need it now, repaired or not. He told me to come pick it up, unrepaired. When I picked it up, I asked what had been happening for the 90 days it was in the shop - he said he did ""a lot"" of research on the problem and came up with his original conclusion - it doesn't do what I told him it did.\r \r Apparently his ""research"" didn't include page 32 of the owner's manual - ""By configuring the AV receiver, input signals from the composite video, S-Video, and component video jacks can be output through the HDMI OUT."" The only saving grace was that it was under warranty. If he had tried to charge me even one penny for his ""research"", I would have lost it.\r \r DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, TAKE ANY ITEM TO THIS SHOP. YOU WILL REGRET IT ON SEVERAL LEVELS. Cons: Tech knows nothing, and worse, thinks he does. more
