My wife and I recently moved to the Germantown neighborhood and absolutely love it. We had heard many good things about the Germantown Cafe and have been excited to try it out. We had brunch there last Sunday and everything was wonderful - we were seated right away, service was excellent and the food was reasonably priced and very very good (she had the shrimp & grits and I had the steak benedict). We returned with some friends this past Saturday for dinner and again the service was excellent, we had a reservation and were seated right away, our server was attentive and the wait for the food was very short. The food itself though was a little disapointing. My wife had the much talked about pork which tasted great but the mashed potatoes with it tasted instant and not very good at all. I had the coconut curry salmon and everything tasted bland - the salmon was cooked perfectly but it was obviously farmed salmon and not very flavorful, not even the coconut curry sauce could give it much taste. The risotto served with it was also bland and seemed a little undercooked. After such a great brunch there and hearing so many good things we had such high hopes for dinner and were just disapointed in both the amount of variety on the menu and the taste of the food. I would return for brunch anytime but I don't know if we will return for dinner anytime soon.
Pros: Service, view,brunch food
Cons: Variety of food, taste
