Salty Paws was recommended to me by a neighbor who boards her dog there regularly. Upon entering the place I was very impressed. It was decorated beautifully inside and seemed like a very professional atmosphere. I did call in advance on three separate occassions to double check what my fees would be and procedures for an a walk in vaccination required prior to boarding my maltese for the first time. Once I showed up with all the required documents and spoke with the technician about my needs for the day I was immediately urged to agree to extra procedures (more money). First I was asked to repeat a vaccination that was not expired for three years. After clearing that up, I was told that my dog should be examined because the last shot he had was over a year ago. After explaining that he was recently examined and I was just there for a vaccination that was required for him to be boarded at their facility they took him back, wouldn't allow me into the exam room and 2 minutes later when they brought him out to me they informed me that my bill would be $14.00 extra because they did an examination anyway. Then they had to nerve to ask me if I would like to purchase any flea or heartworm medication. I am not sure if I want to use their services for boarding due to extra hidden charges they may tack on at the end. Plus no one even payed my dog one bit of attention. Most vets offices will at least give him a pat or two.
