We recently visited friends in NC who took us to this fabulous gem of a restaurant near the Duke U. campus. The 4 of us travel quite a bit and dine at restaurants all over the country more often than at home, and we unanimously agreed that this was among the best meals any of us could recall. The steaks, desserts and cocktails at Metro 8 were simply out of this world! We had the hefty cowboy ribeye, churrasco, tuna steak and the T-bone--all were tender, juicy and cooked to absolute perfection. For dessert we tried 2 of their homemades: the warm, melty chocolate souffle and a creamy passion fruit dessert. They were SO good! They'll make you want to forget your manners and lick the plates! The service was my ideal: perfectly attentive, though not cloying. A charming and talented husband and wife team own the place--they cook, mix drinks and make sure that their patrons are enjoying themselves. They each visited ours and surrounding tables and treated us like royal guests in their home. You have to check this place out!
