My friend and I visited Ketchup on a Thursday night and were excited to experience a new member of the Dolce Group of restaurants. The space is on the second floor off Sunset and you ride up an elevator to a red-lit, white walled room bustling with people. We were sat and immediately could not hear a single word from one another for the remainder of the evening. The red-light was a nice effect to their overall theme, but it makes it VERY difficult to identify particular characteristics about your food, such as, is my meat cooked properly? Thankfully, my beer-can chicken and her short ribs fit the bill, but the sides were a bit boring and the ""white truffle"" mac-n-cheese was a poor attempt of glamorizing a side dish which we expected to be ""down home"" cooking. There were a ton of wait staff standing around doing nothing (even though it was pretty busy) and we were visited by one of the owners at our table, and he was too busy scouting the room to listen to us and agreed that he DOES NOT like the white truffle mac-n-cheese....hm. We did not stay for dessert after our waiter, who was a doll in the beginning, began to rush and grabbed my friend?s drink with a few sips in it and was not very nice in accommodating her after her complaint. Oh well, we tried.
Pros: Large Portions
Cons: Noisy, Bland Food, OK Service
