Does anyone need another review of Katsuya? Probably not, but I?ll give more credence to the popular sentiment. Its really great. We go to the original location on Ventura blvd, and normally if we show up before 8pm we can get a sit at the bar. We of course have our favorites from among the most inventive sushi dishes I?ve seen anywhere ? the spicy tune on crispy rice, the baked crab rolls, the rock shrimp ? but every time there seem to be more new things going past us on their way to other people?s tables. The best way is to keep your eyes open and ask the waiter passing by ?what?s this?? and try for yourself. You can?t go wrong. There is a big catch though? any illusion that sushi is good for you will go out the window. A meal at Katsuya feasting on their famous dishes will likely pack more calories and do more to clog your arteries than you?d like to admit? but hey its sushi so it must be good?
