The Piney Woods of East Texas are not known for genteel brunches in quaint little doll houses but Marteres Tea Room is a welcome taste of refinement and culture in Lufkin. I have visited Marteres Tea room a few times usually as a birthday lunch/brunch location picked by one of the ladies in the office. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect in a tea room. I will admit that the menu and the restaurant are geared toward the ladies but that isn't to say that they don't serve some wonderful brunch dishes like a selection of quiches and salads and some wonderful desserts. Call ahead before you go. Parking can be tricky but not bad and I think they are closed Mondays but call and check anyway. I rarely choose this as a lunch location but I certainly don't mind when it is suggested.
