Unethical, illegal practices and atrocious customer service. 9/16/2006

This company accepted an order through our home warranty company for a central vacuum repair. They took the order, knowing what was specifically wrong with the system and that they were going to refuse the order. They were trying to extort a $50 dollar fee from us for driving out to our home. The person who came out to our home demanded money from our babysitter and refused to leave, causing her to tell him she was going to call the police. The owner of the company (Steve) hung up on my wife when she tried to politely explain the situation to him. He made a threat if we did not pay and then sent us an invoice. The warranty company told us we were correct in refusing to pay Carey, and the warranty company removed them from their list of companies that they authorize to do home warranty repairs. I filed a complaint with the Contractor's State Licensing Board, and they took ""disciplinary action"" against Carey Overhead Doors for ""Working out of Classification."" They never should have accepted this work order, because they do not have the proper license to do central vacuum repairs.\r \r Every step of the way, Steve Carey was challenging, threatening, and he refused to accept any responsibility for his actions. He presented intentionally false statements to all agencies that I contacted, including our warranty company, the CSLB (and others). Fortunately, his fraudulent actions were not missed by the CSLB, and disciplinary action was appropriately taken.\r Cons: See review more
