I , too, have been to Beacon Street on two occasions and couldn't have had a more different experience than ""the phantom"". Both of my visits have been on quieter evenings but I found the food and service excellent. Maybe the bartenders have difficulty when its busy, but our bartender was hilarious (she even ended up getting my friend a date!) and made us about a billion mohitos in a flash. We had a few appetizers, including a locally grown tomato salad, and they were presented beautifully and perfectly suited for a hot summer night.
Pros: great music, friendly service, great food
Cons: can't drink on the patio without ordering dinner
