There is no way to fault the barbecue which is the Old Hickory House specialty. And the breakfast and brunch items are top notch. The veteran waitstaff who call you ""Darlin"" and race around to make sure your every whim is met cannot be faulted. But the Old Hickory House facility is frankly worn out and dingy. With its flourescent lighting and smoke-stained ceiling tiles it has slipped beyond rustic to just plain tired. The place has not changed in years, and I'm sure many people love that. But on my recent visits, I've found it dark and depressing. Go for the breakfast, brunch and barbecue. Just don't look too closely at the building. And if you own this restaurant, please spruce it up.
