Perhaps this place made an effort to offer food that was meant for human consumption when it opened but those days are long past. What tries to pass for schnitzel would be more inconspicuous nailed to the bottom of a boot. The ""german"" potato salad was a hard pile of undercooked potatoes tossed with (are you ready for this?) MUSTARD!
Go for the beer and stay far, far away from the food. There are other german pubs in the city that at least try to offer german food.
