The New City Hall 4/6/2006

The Cambridge Mall never served a large retail area and had little room availible for development. The mall did once sport many good stores, including a Pamida, a grocery store, Subway, Pizza Barn, Hallmark, and Showtime Video, the heyday of this small shopping center has come and gone. The Pamida location closed when Wal-Mart opened some years ago. When Pamida left, a clothing store occupied the space but left shortly after. In the past few years, the city has moved their offices into the former Pamida location. The grocery store, once Erickson's, then More 4, and finally Econofoods. It's now closed but as of this writing, the space is now leased to a local chain of thrift stores and should be opening their business soon. In summary, this small shopping center was unable to compete with wider array of goods and services availible in the Twin Cities. more
