My boyfriend and I have tried almost every Japanese restaurant in the immediate Boston area. This was our first time at Fugakyu. Overall we really liked it. I got several pieces of Nigiri, a house special roll, seaweed salad and miso soup. He had shrimp and veggie tempura and soup. First of all, portions of the salad and soup were miniscule, tasty, but nothing particularly special. The Nigiri were huge and really really good - loved it. The tempura was incredibly beautiful, colorful, plentiful, and super flavorful. I have not seen anything like this anywhere else in Boston. They also have a nice selection of Sake. A couple things bothered us, though. First, the undersized portions of the appetizers. Secondly, our server seemed skeptical of our original order and suggested we get more food. We ordered a little more and ended up with way too much food. We are big eaters, too, so I don't know what that was about.
Pros: Beautiful presentation of delicious food
Cons: Not a great value for some smaller items
