I've lived in Berkeley for a long time, enjoy the food scene here, and have grown to accept the attitude that often goes along with it. I've eaten at Cafe Fanny at least 30 times, and I have a love-hate relationship with the place. There is no disputing that the food is quite good (not phenomenal). But the service is so exasperatingly bad, that I often vow to never return. In particular, I pay for my beverage and don't get it almost half the time. Last time I was very rudely asked, ""Well, did you *pay* for an americano?"" The overall staff attitude is that I should feel lucky that they are willing to sell me food -- at quite high prices.
