More like good, peasant French food than the over-refined fancy-schmancy stuff most everywhere else. Other reviewers have raved about the Fondue, the appeal is that isn't trying to be super smooth (and thus bland, like most fondue): is it tart and goaty and thus delightful. The oxtail is not for the timid of stomach, being mostly fat; but where else could you get such a dish? The green beans, the soup, tarte lyonaise, and even the hamburger (with blue cheese and bacon) are delicious. The service is dodgy: mostly exceptional, sometimes horrid. Left Bank is one of the treasures of Santana Row.
