I have always been impressed with the excellent service and food at Union's partner restaurants (Aquitaine Bis, Aquitaine, Armani, Metropolis) and have never hesitated recommending these places to others. I think this is why I was so surprised by how the host greeted and spoke with my father (the nicest guy in the world!).
We live locally and walked by Union, stepped in and asked for a table for 3. The hostess raised her finger and asked me to wait for a moment. The host then came and told us that there was a 2 hour wait. My father said that was too long and so we decided to leave and go to Caffe Umbra. As we were leaving the host called out, ""Next time call ahead. Next time make a reservation!""
Thanks for the advice, but don't worry, there won't be a next time.
