I recently visited the Village Lanes after a friend recommended it. I have lived in Chapel Hill all my life and had always been hesitant to try this bowling alley because of the area its in. I went over on a Friday night with my husband to try the bowling with blacklights special that they have that night. They had a police officer on duty, which made me feel much better. Their weren't many people but we still had a good time. The lanes weren't too oily and the food from the snack bar was good too. We went again last week and again had a great time. We now know where we'll be each weekend. It's cheaper than a movie and the staff was helpful and nice. It's worth the drive to the other side of Durham.
Pros: price- it's cheap!, a/c, friendly staff
Cons: location, parking lot is scary
