Tessaro's is something of an institution in Pittsburgh. It is a family restaurant in the Italian neighborhood of Bloomfield. The atmosphere is friendly and casual and there is a designated non-smoking area which is really cozy in a little back room with a fireplace that is a nice touch in the winter. Now to get down to business--This restaurant is one of two reasons that I started eating red meat again, the other is that a close friend is a gourmet chef ( I know, poor me). The burgers are the best that I've had in a restaurant. The man in charge of the special blend of cuts of beef grinds meat twice a day so you know it's fresh. Everything's cooked over a hardwood grill. Try the tuna rare. The chicken, steaks and swordfish or salmon are great as well! It's worth the wait.
Pros: Great value, Excellent food, Great bartenders
Cons: Sometimes smoky, Can be loud
