I'm from NY. I've eaten at the original Palm a handful of times in the past 12 years. And loved it. So when business brought me to the Swissotel, I was looking forward to dinner at the Palm. It was lousy. The medium-rare steak was overcooked. The giant onion loaf that maitre d' brought us as a deep-fried consolation prize for waiting an eternity for our dinner was greasy and tasteless. It's a chain, with all the charmlessness and hokery that implies. The creamed spinach was fab, though. If you go, sit at the bar and order a salad. The bartenders are wonderful.
