I went to visit a friend in Tampa years ago and my favorite part of the trip was going to this museum. It's so easy to forget that Dali is more than melting clocks and a wacky moustache. Bombarded by the staggering collection of work on display here, I was re-converted to the cult of Dali. Permanently. The 14 foot tall painting ""The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus"" and a small portrait of his wife still linger in my mind. The only place likely to have a better, more comprehensive collection is the painter's own museum, the Teatre-Museu Dali in Figueres. Face facts: It's cheaper to go to Florida than Spain.
