Judging by the numerous plaques and certificates on the waiting area wall, The Formosa has built up a steady legion of local loyalty as well as visiting passers-by (case in point). The restaurant just looks different from so many stereotypical restaurants--we were pleased when our meal further convinced us that Formosa had been open for over 20 years for a reason. We were recommended to try to off-menu sea bass. Our courteous server also recommended the five-flavored shrimp since we were in seafood mode.
The sea bass was delicate and full of flavor and the shrimp was cooked just right and the sauce it came in was incredible. Even the ""standard"" dishes like the beef with broccoli taste a notch above any other Chinese restaurant we've tried. Delicious.
