Gammage is cool simply because of the architecture. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, it is one of the true landmarks of the Phoenix area and it's worth visiting just to look around.
The acoustics are great and I've never had a problem with hearing anywhere in the auditorium. You can also see the stage (barely) from any seat. However, it does get steep in the upper tier and it makes me quite dizzy to sit up there. If you can get a seat on the front row of the lower balcony, I believe that is the best place to sit other than the very first rows on the floor.
