I had a friend who was living in L.A. just before this restaurant opened. One of her last meals there she wanted to go to CPK for it's "authentic" California pizza (like Wolfgang Puck's in the '80s). Then she got here and CPK was already a national chain. Oops! Anyway, I personally love the hummus appetizer. To me that is what makes the place. The pizza is pretty good, and soup too.
