Dr. Schauer was on call the night I was admitted to the hospital by another physician in the same practice. She spent less than five full minutes with me that night, ordered only two of the four units of blood I was supposed to receive in preparation for surgery, and then forgot about me altogether. I was left to wander the halls in search of food and information concerning my own care the next morning. The nurses could find no instructions at all from Dr. Schauer as to meals, procedures, or anything else. I finally took the IV out myself and left because I was being denied food.
