Well it happens. Your heater fails and it is freezing. I tried calling someone more local to get the heater serviced. The best any could do was 4 days later. So I called Valley. They responded promptly, pointed out the cost of the diagnosis on the phone and said they could be out later that same day between 3 PM and 5PM. At 3:05 PM the technician showed up. He examined the system and played with it for about 15 minutes. He explained that his diagnosis was that the control Board for my Carrier 8000TS heater was bad but he was attempting to see if he could get it to at least be manually controlled so we would have some heat. Alas, he tried several things finally determining that the blower relay was defective and he could not adjust the board to recover from that failure. So he said, I'll order you a new board right away and we'll schedule you a new appointment as soon as it arrives. He also checked the install date and pointed out that control board was still under warranty and so the only costs were the time for diagnosis and install. Since the board costs about $400.00 that was a significant saving. Early the next morning I got a call from Valley saying that Chris, the tech had ordered the board and that it would be delivered late that afternoon and they would come the next day to get it installed. Sure enough, around 9:40AM the next morning Chris showed back up again and replaced the board. So now we have heat. The Valley people could not have been more professional. They kept their appointments, called with information about the progress and were courteous. I was very pleased with their work and professionalism and really appreciated the rapid response. I am happy to recommend them. more
