This store apparently allows non-service dogs in the store as a matter of policy.
I find this totally unacceptable and have discontinued shopping there as a result. In my view, even service dogs in a grocery store are unsanitary and other arrangements should be made to accommodate those needing the services of an animal.
However, the dog we encountered there on September 5, 2009, was not a service dog and there is NO EXCUSE for allowing this.
Management refused to remove the dog from the store.
