nice people, good food 8/20/2005

I like to go here with my family. Yoko, the owner, and the wait staff are always so accomodating and friendly. There's something for everyone-- even if you can't handle eating the raw fish. The salad is awesome (how do they make that dressing?) and who doesn't like the miso soup? Order a boat and everyone can share from a variety of sushi, sashimi and rolls or order a la carte. Leave room for green tea ice cream or the fried bananas. more

really good 8/17/2005

This is my favorite place to go for sushi. My mother-in-law introduced us to this place and we've been hooked ever since. I usually get a boat for 2 and share with my MIL (wife doesn't do raw fish) and get a few extra eels. It's also great because we can take the kids. They don't have highchairs or boosters, but we just sit in the front where we can all just sit on the (raised) floor. If you like sushi, I recommend trying this place out. more

Authentic Japanese Dining 8/9/2005

We always sit at the tbles up front where we take off our shoes and sit on the raised floor so that our young ones can stay contained. Hot hand towels are given to wash up before eating. The salad dressing is very tasty and the noodle appetizer is delicious. I prefer eating the rolls while my husband likes the sushi and sashimi. For dessert, don't miss out on the friend bananas and ice cream. YUM!! TIP: If you have young children and love japanese food, this is a great place to try. Yoko and the staff is very patient and sweet with my children. Besides, the restaurant is right beside Babies R Us and you can always pass time walking around with the babies while waiting for your food! more

Authentic Japanese Food 8/5/2005

Owned and operated by a Japanese couple, they have their family members working there as well. You can see Yoko in a traditional kimono most nights and on busier evenings she's been known to sing a few Japanese songs on their karaoke machine. (I have yet to see an American diner get the nerve to get up and sing!) The Hiro boat for 2 is plenty to feed me, my mother, and my boyfriend. It comes with 2 soups and salads, teriyaki chicken and beef, stir fry vegetables with scallions, tempura vegetables, and the sushi and sashimi actually come served on a boat, if you have room, it also includes 2 servings of ice cream--your choice of red bean, green tea, or vanilla. Dinner service also includes the hot wash cloths when you sit down as well as a noodle dish as an appetizer. When the three of us share this, I usually order a separate sushi roll and another soup and salad, and we rarely have room for the dessert. You can sit at tables, a booth, the sushi bar, or the more traditional Japanese table where you take your shoes off and sit on a pillow. more
