Worst

I have been a loyal Yamado goer for the past year - both sitting in the restaurant and for take out. I have really enjoyed the sushi and take advantage of happy hour cash special...

Good food but beware about the specials 1/6/2012

I have been a loyal Yamado goer for the past year - both sitting in the restaurant and for take out. I have really enjoyed the sushi and take advantage of happy hour cash specials. Over the last few months I've ordered there for carry out, yet every time I go to pick it up the deal changes. With my latest order when I picked it up and yet again questioned why it was different than the deal posted on my takeout menu from two months ago, I was told that the specials change with daylight savings time! Honestly, if you are looking for great sushi there are many other options in Naperville for the same price. If you are looking for a deal on good sushi, I would only recommend Yamado if you can follow Ikea assembly instructions easily. more

Best Sushi in Naperville 11/8/2010

I am Japanese American, living in Naperville for more than 10 years. Sushi in Yamado is very delicious and I think best in this town. Sashimi is so fresh and price is also good. Ms Lee (new owner) and staff will treat you like king and gueen. I strongly recommand you try it at Yamado. Yamado is authentic Japanease restanrant. more

Fresh sushi at an affordable price! 7/8/2010

I have been going to Yamado for years now and it is my favorite Japanese restaurant ever! Mr.Lee is always very welcoming and the sushi is delicious. I have been to other Japanese restaurants but no other restaurants stand a chance against the freshness of the sushi at Yamado. I also absolutely love the miso soup and the homey feel of Yamado is wonderful. Even with new Japanese restaurants around Naperville, I know that I can always count on Yamado for delicious sushi! Do Not Eat Here! We all got food poisoning! 6/23/2010

Diarrhea! Nausea! Vomitting! That's what my party of 3 are all suffering from within less than hour after eating lunch at Yamado! What we ate - luke warm miso soup luke warm green tea dragon roll - I had to return it because I found an eye lash in between the sliced roll. When I informed Mr. Lee he took a knife and scraped the hair off and asked if I wanted the remainder of my roll to go! maguro toro chicken teriyaki lunch box - the chicken had a rubbery texture and a weird taste. We've eaten here before and liked the fact that there's never more than 2 tables filled. Now I know why. Folks DON'T eat here. There are atleast 6 other Japanese restaurants in Naperville. Cons: luke warm food, unfresh sushi, sushi chef doesn't use gloves more

Mr. and Ms. Lee treat you like family. They are very kind to there staff. Regulars are treated like kings!!! Try the DBl spicy tuna roll or grand canyon #1 roll. When I ask ask for Toro, Mr Lee gives me a big honking chunk!! Some times Ill ask for 1 hand roll ,he'll give me two. yum ,yum and yum Pros: service, food more

Great Sushi.... after Mr Lee took over. 11/1/2008

We have been going to Yamado for many many years... over 6 yrs. Unfortunately, until about a couple of years ago, it was owned by someone else. Now Mr. Lee and his wife have created a great homey atmosphere and I visit multiple times a week. My children and I love it and every time anyone visits from out of town, we make sure to take them there. The sushi and sashimi is extremely generous (even on $1 Sushi days) and always super fresh. As a matter of fact, on occasion I have order Tuna pieces and if Mr. Lee feels at all it's not fresh enough, he will give me Toro instead (Toro = more expensive and much better tuna). I recommend you try it for yourself and see what we rave about to all our friends! Pros: Very well greeted everytime....they even know my voice on the phone :) Cons: Should change name or advise new ownership. They've gotten a bad rap. more

Great Sushi 4/28/2008

I have read a lot of mixed reviews on this place but recently gave it a go and I am so happy I did. The food was absolutely delicious and very flavorful. The prices on a saturday were outstanding. The service was just enough, not overbearing and not neglectful. The atmosphere was nothing spectacular but that didn't bother me at all. I would higly recommend giving this place a try. Pros: Not a stuffy upscale atmosphere Cons: interior decor could use a little sprucing more

HORRIBLE! I HAD CHANGE THROWN AT ME BY THE OWNER 7/12/2007

I like to try different Sushi places, and this one is by far the WORST I've come across! The sushi was mediocre/bad. Yellow tail was not fresh at all. The service was DEPLORABLE. They messed up and overcharged me $40!!! When I complaned, the owner was very very rude about it. He corrected the mistake with a terrible attitude complete with smacking his lips and grunting, and when I left about a 12% tip (which was generous considering the terrible service), he made a big deal about it being too small, so I gave him some more money and he THREW CHANGE AT ME!!!!! Would NEVER go back again!!! Pros: I didn't die Cons: EVERYTHING more

Yamado Roll 8/13/2002

This is some of the best sushi in the area! If your unsure what to order talk to the chefs they are more than willing to offer advise. They have a Yamado Roll which is made with eel and avocado that is the best! Try it out.. you wont be dissapointed. Cons: parking more
