The Ubiquitous Steamroom-in-Disrepair 1/14/2006

The FIRST THING I look for in a gym is a clean, working steamroom. I would highly recommend the YMCA if it weren't for their small, constantly broken-down version. There is a lot of great equipment to use, an Olympic-sized pool, a basketball court, racquetball courts and free-weights. The employees are seemingly never informed of equipment or facility repairs that are in progress when asked about them. Sometimes, the lockers aren't checked for towels, trash and filthy clothing left from the day before. Some of the male members apparently don't know how to turn off a shower. All of this would be overlooked if the YMCA could manage to keep its steamroom in good working order. I don't think gym managers realize how IMPORTANT a working steamroom is to its members. It's time they found out. With a rate increase on the horizon, I'm now seriously thinking of switching gyms. Pros: NO SALES PRESSURE, NEVER CROWDED, OPEN 5AM WEEKDAYS Cons: STEAMROOM, STEAMROOM, STEAMROOM more
