The worst shop you can go to. Terrible customer service, unprofessional and rude staff. more

Rip off artists 2/22/2013

Rip off – they over charge and find “mysterious” things that need to be fixed.\r \r Looking for a honest mechanic/shop – sorry keep looking, these guys are not it. They will fix what you ask them to (over-priced, but it gets done), but then give you a list of what needs to be “fixed”. Most of the items they recommend are not needed or can wait a good while before needing preventative maintenance. I know, I have worked on cars (not at Wiygul) and have seen their slick act personally. Fortunately I did not fall for it, but I want to warn others out there. They appear honest and caring, but they are your typical shysters. more

Watch out 12/11/2012

Always something?.. I started using Wiygul because it was in my neighborhood and close to me. I have used them three times for simple things like inspections and oil changes. Every time it seemed they found something else that needed to be done ? expensive stuff. Of course they made it sound like it needed repair right away. I would take the car to another mechanic I know (his shop is just less convenient) He said they were pretty much BS-ing me and trying to up-sell me. After three times, I feel I cannot trust them to do the work properly and give me an honest assessment of my vehicle. I will use the other mechanic, although less convenient, at least he is honest and I do not feel he is ripping me off. Just a warning for everyone ? I would not trust them. more

Rip off 12/5/2012

They Run up the bill !!!\r My wife went in to have the oil changed. This should have been less than $25.00. When she told me the bill was $475 I said WHAT!!!. They took advantage of her and ran up the bill with unnecessary charges ? BG Evaporator, BG brake flush, BG steering system flush!!! The car is only a few years old. Do not use these dishonest people. more

Super high prices 10/3/2011

I've had the guys at Reston Automotive replace lights for me and they did a fine job with that, but I just called to see how much it would cost to have them put 4 new tires on my car and they said $40/tire! Who in the world would pay $160 to have tires put on a car? When I asked why it was so expensive, they said it was because they had the "latest technology"... They really are shooting themselves in the foot by charging so much and driving away customers because I also have 60K maintenance to get done and I'm taking my business elsewhere. Goodbye, Reston Automotive. more

DO NOT TRUST 5/15/2011

DO NOT TRUST! I went for brakes and almost rear ended someone as soon as I left. Took it back and the story kept changing as to how they 'fixed it'. Friend went for estimate and they told him $600 and he was unable to drive it at all until they fixed it. He told them he would tow it somewhere else....they backed it out of the garage and drove it to parking area. He cancelled the tow and drove it to garage close by. more

Beware 4/8/2011

I've been a regular customer for almost a decade (5 different cars) but recent services caused me a great deal of headache. They broke my sideview mirror. They crossthreaded the oilpan nut. They are not accountable. I consider them dishonest. I'll never do business with them again. more

Beware 4/1/2011

Since this shop was sold a few years ago, it has become the Jiffy Lube of Reston. They will recommend changing all the fluids and filters in your car whether needed or not. In fact, they recommended replacing the power steering fluid in my car at 27,000 miles - in a car that has electrical power steering. Flushing your wallet is the real goal of this shop. If you want to do business with them, know the manufacturer's recommended service intervals, and stick with them. more

Great Service 3/24/2011

We recently took my daughters car in for service on what we thought was a computer problem since that was what the dealer told us when the same problem hapened last summer. This time we took it to Reston Automotive and after a couple of days driving it and testing it out they fixed it and we picked it up.($900.00). After driving it for a day the problem was still there althought slightly different. We took it back and Butch, Jamie, Neil, Mike and the whole team worked with us for several more days and figured out what was causing the issue and finished the work at no additional charge. They are a top rate company that cares about their customers and I will certainly be returning for service. They are not the least expensive company (about the same as the dealer and sometimes a little more) but good service is worth it. more

$1000 for Nothing 1/31/2011

When I told my car in for a state inspection they told me that it would cost around $2600 to get to the point where it would pass. The car wasn't worth that much so I got rid of the car and bought a used one from a close friend. When it started having trouble starting I took it in and was told that I needed to replace my alternator. I told them I was surprised because the guy who jumped my car said that the alternator was producing the right charge level. I asked for an estimate and was told $400 for the part and $200 for the labor. When I told him that the part seem high he said it was because it was a Lexus. He also said that I should replace my aftermarket battery. I told him I didn't think I needed to, he agreed, but said that if I replace both he guaranteed that it would fix my problem. I wanted the problem to go away so I agreed it both. When I picked up my car I was surprised that they managed to push up the final bill to a few dollars short of $1000. I felt that I wa more

Knowledgeable, but _very_ expensive 10/21/2010

They might be technically good, but seem to take undue advantage of their customers ignorance. I went to them to get a very simple part, that costed around $20 in AAP, replaced. I was expecting the work to be done in less than an hour and was expecting the bill to be no more than 60-70 bucks. Thankfully, they informed me beforehand that it would cost me around $300. Needless to say, I got the job done elsewhere. If you know exactly what your car needs, find a better option. more

Good Honest Top-Notch Service 7/2/2010

Three years ago we had Reston Automotive replace the two front tires on our 2003 Jaguar. Last week, on the way to the airport, the left front tire started making strange sounds so I pulled over and found the tire had lost alot of air. I called AAA, who quickly arrived and changed the tire which by then had gone flat. After returning from our trip, we drove the car to Reston Automotive and left the deflated tire with them to fix or to replace it if it had been damaged by the driving on it while it was so underinflated. When we returned the next day Reston Automotive had fixed the tire at no charge.\r They explained that when they had replaced the two front tires several years ago they had also replaced the tire valves. Some of those valves were subsequently found to have been made with a rubber that was subject to premature aging, and it was one of those valves that had failed causing the tire to go flat. I asked them to replace the valve in the other tire. They did with no hesita more

Ripoff 2/1/2010

I took 4 tires to them to have them mounted and balanced. They quoted me $40 per tire! They said it would be cheaper if I had bought the tires from them. I walked directly next door to NTB and was $18.50 per tire. These guys are a ripoff. more

Goodyear-Reston Tire & Automtv TRIED TO RIP ME OFF 10/21/2009

A while back this repair shop dinged out a dent in my tire rim for free. That, combined with the sign in front saying they were voted #1 in Fairfax County made me think this was a stand-up place. Recently, upon receiving a quote for over $2300 to pass state safety inspection and an attempt to sell me a credit card when I said I couldn't afford it, I told them that I would probably buy a new car instead and took my car back. I later found out that a coworker had been quoted $1000 to pass the safety inspection at this location, and then told at another inspection station that all he needed was two new tires. I subsequently took my car elsewhere and was quoted $120. Needless to say I got the repairs done at that station. It turns out that some of the repairs they tried to sell me were completely bogus (or at least were not listed by the other shop - to be fair I can't be certain), and others recommended for the long-run but not needed to pass inspection. They even charged me for an more

Goodyear-Reston Tire & Automtv is located in Reston, Virginia 8/20/2009

The owner had complained in the local newspaper that the Cash for clunkers program was hurting his business, because fewer older cars would now need repairs and that he was losing business. So, I decided to give him some business and boy did I find out why these companies complain; they have gotten used to Northern Virginia's real estate boom. A feel-good company that charges outrageous prices and super inflates the need for repairs and part prices. Parts that the dealer charges $133 are billed for $300, a battery selling for $75 is billed at $150 and more. I got my car towed away from them when they got me so upset. more
