I went to the Winchester Mystery House last Halloween with my family, and though it was really cool to wander through all the narrow hallways, dead end stairways, listen to the creepy myths, it wasn't entirely believable. At the end, a ghost jumped out of a closet- really killed the realism they were shooting for. But other cottages on the grounds gave trick-or-treaters candy, and there were lots of other kids in costumes. It's a different alternative to regular Halloween traditions, but I don't think I'd go again. It's nice to see, but once is definitely enough.
