Best

We went to Wildwood last night. Wow it was great! The presentation was fantastic and the food was wonderful. Service was also great. They had a lot, and I mean a lot, of service s...

Worst

Thats, hmmmmm? not yummmmmm! I'm not sure about all the hype. We had great service, but so-so food. And with all the choices this city has, I probably won't go back. The wine ...

Just had lunch 12/18/2002

It's nice to see that a premium restaurant is open for lunch, as so many around town are not. For $9, the salmon sandwich was delicious and worth it. The fennel and leek soup wasn't anything special, but certainly good. Service was very slow, but friendly. The Chicken Romaine seemed to be the most popular lunch dish. Pros: salmon sandwich more

Not as good as it used to be! 12/5/2002

I used to say that Wildwood was one of my favorites and now I don't think I can say that any longer. Service was good. Food, well the pumpkin soup was quite enjoyable however the crab cake was dry and over done. I don't think I would order that again, however they make a mean cosmopolitan. I just didn't feel there menu was quite what it used to be. . .I will however try again in a few months to see how it might have changed. more

stunning disappointment 12/4/2002

I researched this site and Zagat's, both of whom recommended this restaurant. We eat out often and well, internationally and locally. This particular evening we had invited friends to join us who, unbeknowst to me had already had extremely dissappointing meals here. Reservations for dinner got us a table in the bar; service was extremely slow and/or non-existent; 2 out of 4 meals were nearly inedible. My swordfish which resembled shoeleather, they removed from the bill, stating that they hadn't had any complaints about ""that dish tonight"". My friend was polite mentioned later that his pork chops should have been used for hockey pucks..... .and there was a line to get in when we left. I am curious, I would think that a restaurant in Portland would go under quickly....how long does it take or are people so enamored of a reputation that they don't notice? Cons: many more

over rated 12/1/2002

After reading several writeups on Wildwood, I was expecting far more than I got for Thanksgiving dinner. I had the pork loin and my wife had the turkey. Both were disapointments. The pork was dry and not flavorful. the Turkey had no taste. The prices were gross for what we received. The turkey plate appeared to have been prepared in advance and left to dry out. Pros: nice ambiance Cons: grossly over priced, poor quality of food, poor presentation more

Skip It. 11/17/2002

As a Portland foodie, I've dined at Wildwood 3 times, each experience more disappointing that the previous. At its best, the service was ""okay,"" and the food ""fine."" More often than not the service is unattentive and slow. The dishes simply are not creative enough to make up for the service problems. There's so much great food (and service!) in Portland, why waste your time at Wildwood? Pros: atmosphere, hype Cons: service, average food, hype more

Fantastic! 10/12/2002

My wife and I went for lunch on a Saturday and found the restaurant to be exactly what we were looking for. The staff is helpful and friendly and the ambience is pleasing. Good wine list; great by-the-glass pours for lunch. We had the braised Lamb and the Thyme & Leek Risotto--both dishes were very, very good. To start we had the fig salad and and our dessert was the semi-sweet chocolate torte (wow! that was great!) The service was a tad slow, but extremely friendly and helpful. Pros: Great food, Great service, Great wines Cons: Parking more

Restaurant of no return 9/27/2002

I've given Wildwood three chances to win us back, but we will not be returning. It's just not what it used to be when it won accolades. They have consistently served us cold food from a slow kitchen outside the rush hour, souring us permanently. Portland has too many other excellent choices. Pros: location, reputation, outdoor seating Cons: cold food, delayed service more

Where's Cory? 9/9/2002

On my last visit, my wife and I sat at the bar for a cocktail and an order of onion rings. Wildwood should take a lesson from Burgerville! The onion rings were greasy, burnt, chopped up clumps. The rings at Burgerville are better quality and better value. At the fine dining level, it's all about the details, and on this vist the details were not delivered. We complained to the bartender, and he said he would mention it to the kitchen, but he didn't really offer anything more. That is kind of weak from a customer service perspective. I thought this was supposed to be one of the best restaurants in the city. Pros: nice ambience, good wine selection, good bar Cons: bad onion rings, cocky servers, absentee chef more

Perfectly prepared steaks and chops 9/4/2002

The steaks and chops are unbelievably good. It's a bit pricey, but enjoying a good glass of wine and a perfectly prepared choice grade steak is something to be savored. more

Orygun Haute Cuisine... 8/6/2002

Truly the flavors of Oregon. When I try to describe NW Cuisine to friends in other states I just point to the Wildwood menu. Fresh, wonderful ingredients combined in interesting and tasty ways. Pros: local flavors more

Great for date night 7/22/2002

This place is great for couples due to the high backed booths and serene atmosphere. The food is superb as was the service. more

Overrated 6/1/2002

I was surprised and disappointed at how mediocre Wildwood is. It's the type of place I'd normally love and willingly fork out lots of dough for, but the food simply wasn't good. We ate there for dinner, and we tried the lamb, the pork chop, the caesar salad, the crabcake, and a bottle of merlot. The crabcake and wine were very good, the salad was okay, and the entrees weren't very good at all. The service was excellent, and the ambience is great. Pros: Excellent service, Great ambience Cons: Mediocre food more
