Sunday brunch at Shanghai Red's is amazing! It is all you can eat buffet style and I can't think of a food that isn't represented. Unlike many buffets the food is the quality y...

Warning!: The average age of Shanghai Red's patrons is about 82. Even on weekends in the summer this place seems to attract the AARP yachting crowd.

Great Brunch 4/11/2006

This is one of the best brunch locations. The seafood is fresh. The champagne is EXCELLENT!!Anyone know what brand? The service is great we were seated immediatly(with a reservation) Pros: fresh seafood, fantastic champagne Cons: noisy, pricey parking more

nice water view!!! 2/24/2005

it was my bf & my first time trying Shanghai Red's tonite. i've heard about this restaurant from a friend, but have always thought it's a lame asian american restaurant. i was totally wrong after tonite's experience. when u first stepped into the dining area, u'll be immediately attracted to the beautiful water view. i promise my bf that we'll sit out in the patio area next time, just make sure u bring ur jacket w/ u. the food was great as well, not to mention how big the portion is for the price they charge. Pros: view, food, service Cons: dessert more

good brunch spot 1/29/2005

This is definately a great spot to have brunch, but because of the ambience rather than the food. The view of the marina from the patio is amazing, especially when your there relaxing and drinking the unlimited champagne. The food here is average , but what can you except from brunch. The prime rib was good, but the salmon's and other meats were dry, the eggs benedicts were over-cooked as the yokes weren't runny, and the sushi rice was extremely condensed. Come on Saturday or on Sunday before 9 as both are around 20$ instead of 27. To clarify, the purpose of brunch here isn't to have great gourmet food, it is to enjoy the great view of the marina while relaxing and sipping champagne ,which is suprisingly good(it's not an American one like Korbel, but something from France). Pros: atmosphere, view, champagne Cons: somewhat expensive, crowded more

Disappointed 8/6/2004

I finally went to the most talked about brunch spot from my friends and family. We walked in and the place was so busy and the lines were too long to stand for a custom pasta dish or omolete. I went for the meat station, salads, breakfast foods and desserts. I was disappointed by how bland the food was. I did like a salmon filet type chowder though. There were over a dozen desserts, but after sharing 5 different ones they were all dry, airy and tasted more like store bought. Pros: valet parking, outdoor seating, family friendly Cons: , crowds, price more

Sunday Brunch 9/14/2003

I highly recommend the Sunday brunch. It's normally $25.95 per person, but before 10 AM, it's $5 off! Parking is validated for 2 hours, so until almost Noon you can happily graze on salads, smoke salmon, sushi, crab legs, shrimp, prawns, roast beef, the usual breakfast suspects, and sip champagne (part of the meal). Build your own omelettes. Order your own custom pasta. This is the great undiscovered seafood buffet in Marina del Rey! You can choose to sit outside to get a better view of the marina, but with all of the windows, its hard to get a bad view. Pros: Excellent selection, $5 off before 10 AM, 2 hours validated more

Sunday buffet good, but it ain't cheap 8/29/2003

I took a woman friend to this place for the Sunday buffet to celebrate her birthday. I'd been here a couple of times before with family friends. Great selection of food! Hot salmon, beef, chicken, sausage and ribs. Cold crab legs, mussels, smoked salmon, shrimp. A carving station with roast beef and turkey. An omelet and pasta station - I tried an omelet with shrimp. (Good!) Had the cheesecake and black forest cake for dessert. (Great!) Champagne to drink (other choices if you don't). Excellent seating in the patio, watching the boats go by through the marina. Wish they had a canopy or a couple more umbrellas (I sunburn easily). Service excellent. Parking free with validation. Bring your empty stomach and a full wallet; it's worth it for a special occasion. Pros: Great seafood, Best view in town, Excellent service Cons: EXPEN$IVE more

EXCELLENT 3/29/2003

Went here a few weeks ago to Sunday Brunch and the food was fantastic, a sea food lovers paradise. Very nice ambience...view is spectacular. Service was very good, champagne glass constantly refreshed which was a plus! I highly reccomend the Sunday Brunch! ENJOY! Pros: Ambience, food, service more

WORST SERVICE EVER! 1/1/2003

Went there for Sunday brunch on nice cool breezy day, only to find out that despite the extensive outdoor seating areas, the outdoor heaters did not work. The food was good with a lot of choices. The service, though, was one of the worst I have ever had. The waiter dumped almost an entire bottle of champagne on me and my purse. Once the table was reset, the same waiter decided that instead of making it up to us by better service, he should completely ignore our table. We had the hardest time flagging anyone to get us a glass of water! Horrid! more

Steak and sailing... 8/11/2002

Yum... the pepper steak and a knockout water view of the sailboats gliding by... the before 6.30p early bird special is a great value - less than 15.00 for a great dinner. The wait staff is great, and the greatest of all is Monica, the finest bar none! Jerry Palmer Venice beach Pros: view, food, wait staff Cons: veggies... more
