Wescom Gone Way Down Hill! RUN! 5/3/2010

I tried to use my Wescom Visa Gold card (that I have held for 14 years!) the other day only to be told it was expired. When I called Wescom to find out why I still had not received the new one, they informed me that they had closed the account! They claim they hold the right to close an account for any reason. I told them they have to NOTIFY me! They claimed they sent me a letter w/ a particular date. When I dug up the last statement I had just received, it was dated AFTER this supposed letter...yet, oddly enough, did NOT reflect ANY changes to my account! You would think it would state the account was closed! \r \r As I was speaking to the customer service rep, I told her I was looking at the account online and it showed an available balance. All of a sudden, the screen went blank and then said it had logged me out due to inactivity for too long a time. When I logged back in...what do you know! The account all of a sudden said zero balance! As if my phone call had initiated all of this! \r \r After researching Wescom, I have found that they may be the next bank to go belly up! They make bad loans to themselves (Board of Directors) and have too many credit accounts opened. \r \r To pay for all of this, they are now charging monthly fees for services that used to be free. Or if you jump thru 5 fiery hoops, you can get free checking. Whoopee! \r \r They also are doing the whole BofA trick of holding ATM debits too long and then putting them through out of chrono order to gain as many fees as possible. They actually held an ATM debit for 17 days on me, once! They claimed they had no control, but the store said they had never heard of a bank holding one for so long and there was no reason why it should have sat there like that. \r \r AT&T Union needs to rethink their association with this ""Credit Union""! They have gone way down hill! \r \r Look them up in any review and watch the REVIEWS GET WORSE as time progresses! I predict they will go belly up very soon. Cons: Fees, in financial trouble, dishonest more

Rip off on Fees 10/3/2009

Wescom will Pend your debit card charges, while also clearing it through your account. So if you made a 20 purchase, they pend the charge for up to 6 days, lowering your avaliable amount, while at the same time, clear the 20 charge through your account, so for 6 days instead of being minus 20 you are minus 40, they do this to rip you off on the Courtsey Paid Fees and NFS fees. The line they give you is, look we were nice enough to have paid your other charges.. but if they would not Pend and clear the same charges there would be no need for them to be so nice to you. \r I have spoken to directors and managers, they give you the same line, its policy, we have the right etc.. \r I do not know any other credit union or bank that does this practice. \r I have filed a complaint with DFI to see what I can do and the BBB. I looked up for the first time Wescom's record on BBB, its not that great. Cons: The hold your money in Pending while clearing the charges more

Great customer service 1/3/2007

I went to this bank because the change machine at every laundrymat I'd been to that morning was out of order. I had about 10 pounds of laundry to do and I was due at work that evening. There were cookies and coffee set out in the lobby, but I just stood in line steaming and wondering why laundry facilities weren't ALWAYS equipped with change. By the time I got to the teller window, I was thoroughly frustrated and slightly embarrassed to be asking for approximately $40 in quarters. The teller, a man named Jonathan, smiled and put me at ease by telling me another woman came in requesting $200 in quarters every week. He said, ""This is obviously for laundry. Can you imagine how heavy $200 in quarters must be?"" By the time I left, I had no memory of what all the earlier fuss was about. Pros: A screen flashes the number and direction of the next available teller window Cons: It's a credit union, so membership may be necessary in order to enjoy some of the perks more
