because once you sign up, you won't be able to cancel it without a fight. Excellent facility with great view of the sounds though.

worst gym EVER 11/5/2009

i should have known when i joined that it was a bad idea. the were very vague on their policy and charged us first and last month even when the girl at the front told us we were just paying the first. second, to reiterate what chris said. when you try to leave, they screw you over. the owner is an ass and you get the run around. literally. its been over 4 days since they charged my account and the owner hasn't called me back because apparently the girls at the front can't handle customer issues. they have to forward it to the owner. note: the owner works best by email. he can't answer the phone but he sure can email. give it right back him, he's a jerk and is just charging people for an extra month even when you provide your 30 day notice because he's a cheap ass trying to get as much money as possible. too bad everyone i know left them for LA FITNESS in ballard. talk about trainers that know what they are talking about instead of rain trainers that count reps for you! and free pilates classes. screw rain. join LA Fitness. also, for those of you who are like chris at i that are jumping through hoops to get out of our membership, just have your bank put a stop on Rain Fitness so they can't charge you any longer. Someone should put this guy out of business. It's ridiclous. either that or take a year long lesson in customer service. Pros: nice view. the end. Cons: horrible service. bad trainers. owner is an ass. more

good, straightforward gym 6/21/2009

Great gym, straightforward. Nice staff and good spin instructors. Free weights and general weight areas solid, as well as new cardio equipment. Pros: clean facilities, front desk staff, equipment, convenience Cons: towels, weekend hours more

Good while you're there but just wait till you try to leave. 6/1/2009

Pros: Pros: Clean facility, some staff are friendly. Cons: Shady practices when you end your membership more

Workout view! 2/3/2009

The view of the Sound from this gym is impressive. After receiving a tour, and discussing membership prices, I was tempted to join. However, I found another gym that, while costing slightly more, was more convenient with better parking. Pros: Clean facility, view Cons: Parking more

Amazing gym and great staff! 12/17/2008

I am very surprised by what I am reading here from the past few posts. I am not sure what gym facility they are referring or if and how long they have been a member, but my experience has been nothing less than exceptional. My company has provided a membership to Rain Fitness for teh past 5 years, and it has been a good experience for me and the company I work for. The staff is always warm and attentive, never pompous, and they make my time at Rain both enjoyable and exciting. The facility is gorgeous with amazing views of the Puget Sound. I do know Glen the owner, as he enrolled both myself and my husband, and he has always been warm and professional. My husband closed his account, and had no problems whatsoever. I seriously wonder from a few of the recent posts, if they are former employees, because those that truly go to Rain Fitness know the facility is terrific and the staff and the owner are great! Pay no attention to some of these posts, as a 5 year member this is the place to be and a great value too! Pros: staff, owner, parking, facilities Cons: no childcare, no jacuzzi more

Real gym for Real people 6/10/2008

I have been a member of Rain for over 3 years and am continuously impressed with the services and classes provided to members. more

pleasantly surprised 5/15/2008

I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Having not worked out before, I am not quite sure what I expected. Everyone was very nice and the facility was very beautiful. I happen to love old buildings and the space and views of the sound were simply amazing. I was concerned about ny lack of experience and they helped put my fears to rest. I met with Dan the trainer, very nice and very informative. He tested my current level of fitness and spent time on the floor with me, and helped me realize how out of shape I am. I am now in my third week and going. I have not tried any classes but I sure am sore from the work that Dan gave me. I have also been doing rowing at the new facility, I rowed in college years ago. The new place is very nice too, and the young lady at the desk already knows my name. Comfortable environment and well worth the money. Pros: clean and new, low key Cons: no towel hooks more

Great Gym, Go Here to Get a Great Workout! 3/17/2008

Rain Fitness is great.....great staff! the trainers here are very personable and helpful. The staff is friendly and the gym is very clean. The facilities are new and very sanitary. The classes are fun and the schedule is very flexible. Parking is free and there are three different lots that are close by. The trainers are very concerned about your fitness and strives to make exercise fun and easy. Best of all, the gym is located with a great view of elliot bay. Overall, you get a great workout, the gym is clean, and the staff is very friendly. Pros: Clean, large facility, knowledable staff, and parking available more

Great atmosphere, clean, and very professional staff! The Best!!! 2/28/2008

I don't what problem the last 2 reviews had,but their complaints are completely untrue! I've been a member since Rain Fitness first opened, and have been extremely happy with with the Facility, the management, and the staff! Very comfortable,no pressure sales what-so-ever,and a knowledgeable training staff that are there for their clients. All the equipment is very clean and well maintained, great classes available usually at no charge. Not a lot of hype and frills,if you want a great place to workout that's friendly, clean, and well maintained, then you'll love Rain Fitness!!! Pros: Great personable staff, clean, and spacious(Great view of Elliot Bay)! Cons: Parking is tight, but where in the city ISN'T it difficult more

An A+ club from top to bottom! 12/24/2007

I really want to echo what LisaL said in here review...How are you going to sign a contract and not then get angry about it's terms? Pros: Great owner, awesome views, CLEAN more

2nd Favorite Gym, after the New Rain 11/30/2007

The facilities, staff and the view of Elliott Bay make the original Rain Fitness on Western Avenue the best deal in town for health clubs. more

Clean Gym & Great Classes 6/24/2007

When I moved to Seattle last summer finding a new gym was top priority. I checked out a lot and tried out a few as a guest, one of which was rain. I tried rain several more times and each time I found the equipment to be consistently clean and great line up of classes. It was a no brainer this was the place to join. Pros: Great location, equipment & view more

Great Gym! 2/13/2007

I've been a member of Rain since it's inception. I love this gym. The equipment and facility look as clean and inviting as it did 3+ years ago. The equipment is always well maintained and I've never seen an ""Out of Order"" or ""Needs Repair"" sign on anything since I've been going there. I can't say that about the other two gyms, I previously belonged to, in Seattle. I really like the atmosphere here. There is a diverse clientele (at least in age and body type) and a low key, positive vibe. It's completely lacking that ""cruisy"" atmosphere prevelant in other gyms. I'm always greated, by name, by a smiling staff member. I've done several classes there, in addition to Boot Camp. I've enjoyed them all. I only wish they had a lap pool! Pros: Staff, Equipment, Atmosphere Cons: No Swimming Pool more

Amazing Gym with Great Water Views 1/23/2007

I've been a member of rain fitness since I moved back to Seattle in August. There's tons of equipment which is always clean and well maintained. There's an amazing view of Elliott Bay from the cardio area and group exercise studio, lots of variety in the group exercise schedule (yoga, cycle, sculpting, boxing, etc.) energetic instructors that make the classes fun and challenging. Pros: Great facility, equipment, classes, parking and price. more

Excellent personable service, clean and well maintained facility, all at a reasonable price. 1/23/2007

Hey, If you're looking for a great gym experience and have grown tired of the larger chains, whose sole objective in life is about signing members by the masses and then losing you in their database, look no further. After working out at gyms for many years I was ready to experience a gym whose primary interest was about offering personable, friendly service, in a clean and well maintained environment, at a reasonable cost to its members. Did I say personable? It all starts at the top you know. On many occasions the owner has come up and spoken with me as if we're good friends. I'd like to see that happen at one of the Wal-Mart gyms. How accessible is the manager or owner at your gym? Try very accessible at this facility. It's truly refreshing to find a staff that's motivated, available to be of service to its members, and living the winning philosophy of this gym. Oh, and almost as important as the service; the facility. This place houses one of the best, state of the art cardio theatres in Seattle, has a complete range of free weights and toning equipment to suit anyone's needs, and enough equipment to go around in the event it should get crowded. I'm almost afraid to write this testimonial for fear too many people will find out about a great thing, but hey, it's all about sharing. My thanks to the staff at Rain Fitness for a great gym experience. I'm sold guys. Pros: Service, state of the art equipment Cons: No complaints. more

Very clean, great equipment and a great value 10/16/2006

Three years ago, my daughter convinced me to go to a gym for the first time in my life. We joined Rain. It's been a great experience and after looking around and trying to use other gyms in other cities, I love coming home to Rain. The equipment is the best, it's always clean, the staff and owner are friendly and real. Rain gives me the accountability I need and has excellent classes. In one year I dropped 20 lbs and lowered my pressure 20 points. No medication. Not bad for 55. Pros: Price, cleanliness, diversity of people and programs Cons: More cardio machines during rush hour, so what's new more

Hmmm.... 10/8/2006

I have belonged to alot of gyms and there are few things i love and dont love about about each of them, and Rain was no different. I joined Rain on a 3 month membership (partially because I have read prior reviews and didn't want to get caught up in the month to month thing without being able to easily get out). Pros: Great views, free parking, new equipment Cons: Limited class schedules, over-crowded classes, softer atmosphere more

You better REALLY love it 6/1/2006

I loved Rain, but then I moved and had to cancel my membership. After 3 months of fighting, I'm still paying my dues, and living almost 25 miles away! I referred 4 friends to that gym, and yet they still treat me like I'm trying to rip them off. Unless you are 100% sure that you will be able to attend this gym for 1 year, don't sign up, because you'll end up with a headache and a shrunken bank account! Cons: greedy more

User review by klo18 4/10/2006

I love rain! The classes are great. With so much variety I never dread going to the gym, I'm loving Mark's boxing class, and Jonathan's Hip-Hop on Wednesdays. Staff is friendly and the machines are high quality and always working. I've belonged to 4 gyms in the area and Rain is by far the best! more

so fresh and so clean 4/10/2006

Dare I say I love rain. I can't believe how clean the place is. There is nothing better than going to the gym and feeling like it is as clean as my home. Thanks guys for keeping it clean and fresh! more
