A Martial Arts Gem 9/22/2015

Wow, When I left 2 years ago leaving Colorado for Alaska I was hoping to find something in Anchorage that would continue my education. After 2 years and visiting all of the Dojo's in Anchorage all I found were Monkey see Monkey do instructors, no teachers. I am so glad to be back in Colorado and to have returned to Way Of The Crane. Senci Murphy is a teacher that cares for her students and the information she is passing on. If you want to learn this art and am willing to get rewarded for hard work than this is the place for you. more

This might be the place for you 5/31/2013

There are places that one can go and get their ego stroked, you spend your hard earned cash for promotions and it is about what color the belt is around your waist. This is not one of those places. There are Dojo's that will help one learn, focus, respect, discipline and how to move ones body. This is one of those places. I have seen people change here. Children and adults getting stronger mentally and physically while learning a skill set that will help in many aspects of their lives. If you do not mind some hard work, and understand that a critique of your front snap kick is not an attack of your character. If you want to go through the process of achieving ranks and not just do to attendance. If you do not want to get locked into a contract regardless if you stay. Then maybe this is the place for you. This is one of the oldest Dojos in Boulder County. It also has some of the highest standards I have experienced and seen when it comes to the quality of the students and compare rank to rank with other schools. It is like comparing a black diamond run at Eldora ski area verses one at Telluride. Yes, those ski areas rate them both as black diamond runs, however the one at Telluride is steeper, longer and much more challenging. A black diamond at Eldora compares more to a blue/black at Telluride. If you have achieved rank from another school that is great. But prior to wearing that rank in any school other than that one, is disrespectful to the new school and the other students until you test into that rank and meet their requirements for that rank. But why not just start anew and add to your skill set, there nothing wrong with that. So, if you up for a challenge then maybe you should give Way of the Crane a try. If it is not for you then I wish you good luck in your search. If however it is for you, then you will never know until you walk through those doors, bow in and walk onto the mat. more
