The plan was pretty simple: Find the ?dog for us? and the Vet to care for it. Enter two retired folks, living comfortably in their new home who suddenly realize for the first time in over 18 years of marriage that they suddenly lived in a house that was not in the category of ?no pets allowed.? Both of us had had a dog in a different time of our lives, but now all of a sudden we could enjoy one of life?s distinct pleasures as a couple.\r

The internet served as our launching pad and it didn?t take too long to learn that the world of pet adoption was populated with lots of loving dogs ? all kinds of breeds, all kinds of agencies. Finding our beagle Allie was serendipitous in that we were supposed to look at one of the listed dogs and just by chance another dog happened to be along for the ride. Well, long story short: Allie was suddenly ours!\r
