Stopped in on a very cold day to get my car examined for the state. I've been seeing an intermittent 'low tire' sensor for the past year - often when it's cold, but at other times, too, and my RF tire has been known to lose pressure. When I tried to talk about the problem with the man at the front desk (wish I'd gotten his name!) he told me about basic physics: air pressure drops when the air gets cold. As I said: basic physics. I tried to get him to address my follow-up question, namely, why doesn't the sensor reset when the ambient temperature warms? Is it a function of the tires or the sensor? He kindly explained that when air gets hot the tire may over-inflate the tire. (This is known as the Pressure-Temperature Law, for you following along at home.) I gave up on trying to get my car question answered. He was more invested in explaining simple science to me than figuring out what the actual problem was and answering that.
