Editorial review from Citysearch 4/24/2013

I have been to Vida Loca on several occasions. The place has potential, nice atmosphere and decent food, however the service is horrible and it is also a bit overpriced. Our most recent encounter will be our last! We attended the crawfish boil last month which turned out to be a disaster. They were so unprepared! There was a shortage of staff causing the wait to be seated to be over an hour long, yet there were lots of tables available. Then they decided to increase the prices to $25 instead of the $20 that they advertised on their flyer. When we finally got a table and went to the booths to get crawfish, the crawfish was never ready! This occurred every time we went to the booths, causing us to wait a good 20 mins to get maybe a half pound serving. At one point they ran out of crawfish and had to go to the store and buy some more. Really? It wasn't even overly packed! The event was supposed to last until 6pm, by 4:30pm they had ran out of crawfish and were no longer serving it. \r \r With all my bad experiences (this topping it off as the worst) I decided to email them to express how disappointed I was in their service, not only on this occasion but also on my previous trips. I received no answer so I sent them a second email 2 weeks later and nothing. Just goes to show how much this place lacks good customer service! Needless to say, I will not be returning to this place! Not worth the time or money! Go somewhere else! more

Worst Mexican food we ever had! 3/4/2012

Worst Mexican food we ever had! We all contracted some sort of food poisoning (4 grownups) except for our little 2 year old daughter, who smelled the ""bad"" and refused to eat anything. For the money that they charge you would expect at least decently prepared food. Apparently I am not alone, after our visit I checked some sites (like yelp) for reviews on this place and there are a lot of people that got sick after eating there. We contacted the restaurant after the visit and complained, not sure if they will reply or not, but I will also contact the consumer health services about the sanitary conditions at that place. If you decide to go there, check for hair in your food? more

Terrible Attitude and Service 10/2/2011

The food here was okay, but really overpriced given the quality, location and atmosphere. It certainly wasn't anything special and with all of the options we won't be going back. There's always a wait so I guess other people enjoy it. The wait staff is terrible and management is really tacky. They asked which sauce we'd like on our fajitas so we chose one and when we got our bill they'd charged us $3 for it. I was incredibly irritated since they completely implied that it was part of that entree. They wouldn't remove it and I won't go back...and they got $3 taken out of their tip for the manner in which they handled it. more

Never the same thing twice 4/1/2011

The food is decent and the wait staff is hit or miss, but we mostly go for the patio and the kids' play area. Togo orders are also hit or miss....about 50 percent of the time my order has been incorrect. Why still order then...because it is close when we want Mexican. My biggest frustration is the constant policy change. One weekend we were there and watched several customers be seated ahead of us. When I asked why, they indicated that it was call ahead seating. So tonight when I decided to take advantage of the call ahead seating, I was told that they don't have call ahead seating. Hmmm....why not? Because they were already on a wait. First of all, that is the whole point of call ahead seating. Second of all, I had to sit 15 minutes past my quoted wait time the last time that I was there because they were seating people before based upon call ahead seating. Absolutely frustrating! If you do decide to go, ask for Paco. He is the nicest and most attentive waiter there. more

Love it! 12/21/2009

I went there and tried the enchiladas. They're not as good as Lupe Tortillas but they were pretty good. My server made it a point to let me know that he would still wait on me even though I was not seated in his area...I was like okaay?...didn't know why he felt the need to tell me that. Anyway, the place is nice and spacious enough, prices are reasonable, food is good, and they have a live band outside. I've already recommended this place to friends. Pros: Ambience, Price, Location Cons: none that I've found yet more

looks like just another tex-mex, but it's great! 6/29/2009

We decided to check this place out on a reccommendation, and it looked pretty generic, like a lot of mexican places we've been to in Houston. It was full on friday at 7:30, but not crowded, so we had no wait getting a table for 2, but we did have a problem finding parking, which is unusual in Katy. Due to a mixup with the servers, we had quite a wait in placing our orders, but once done, service was quick, friendly, and familiar. We loved (LOVED) the chips and salsas they brought out, fresh from the oven we could see on the patio, and that really set the tone. Margaritas were OK (skip the strawberry rita), and well priced. The fresh guacamole was absolutely delicious, and a small was plenty for two. When we first ordered, I asked about the tamales since I love them, and our server advised us not to try them, as they weren't anything special. When our orders came out I was slightly disappointed because it all looked so generic, but I was in for a surprise. The chicken had great flavors, the tortillas were amazing, the stuffed avocado was crisp, and the mexican rice was fresh. It even tasted great the next day after being microwaved. Fantastic place, we'll definitely be back. Pros: great food, nice patios, friendly service, good pricing Cons: not enough parking on busy days more

Great Mexican Food 1/21/2009

Found this place on Citysearch and decided to call in a to go order last night to take home to the family. The food was awesome and the prices reasonable. They also gave us a free order of queso which we later learned is standard for all to go orders. Looking forward to having Vida Loca cater a party we're hosting next month. The food is outstanding! Pros: Excellent food more

Fur Sure the best in Katy and probably the best in the NW Houston Area 12/27/2008

We have been regulars at Vida Loca for about a year. The service is the best we've found so far. We have not been disappointed at any time with the food. We have recommended Vida Loca to our friends and relatives for a good evening out.The entertainment is first class in our view. LUV2ALL stan & Minnie Pros: The best Mexican Restaraunt in Katy more
