Culinary gem. 10/16/2010

Every bite of food at this restaurant is heavenly. The chef gives common dishes a twist turning them into gourmet masterpieces. Happy hour specials make the already reasonable prices a bargain given the high food quality. The bartender David skilfully creates great cocktails. more

One of the Few Belltown Night Spots That Gets It Right 9/30/2010

Belltown is filled with so-so restaurants that don't impress as far as dinner goes. Amber, Del Rey, Tia Lou's and many others aren't exactly foodie friendly. This makes Ventana a breath of fresh air! Excellent for happy hour (goes past 7pm!) or dinner! Great oyster selection, drinks are well made (no apple tinis here!) and the view is beautiful. Plus with a $6 shot & beer, how can you go wrong?\r \r The fries are excellent with just a hint of truffle, they carry top notch bread and delicous entrees. \r \r If you want a seriously good dinner in Belltown, Ventana is an excellent choice! more

Great view, but watch their liquor poor! 6/30/2010

A group of us went there for a friends birthday, and a few of us ordered their ""dirty parisian"" martini. On the menu they list Grey Goose vodka, but we watched the bartender poor Pearl Vodka for all the martini's. There is a big difference between Pearl & GG vodka, and when you're paying $9/drink you should get what you ask for! So, I suggest you watch the bartenders poor if you specify the type of liquor you want. Other than that the service is ok, but for Belltown the place is never crowded, the food is good, and the view is great. Pros: Very nice view, good food Cons: Did not use liquor as listed on the menu more

Amazing Service 3/10/2010

I booked my birthday at Ventana, mostly for the location and because I was a big fan of Chef Joseph Conrad from now defunct Qube. I book a table for 8 people, they called the day beforeto confirm and as events happen I ended up with 12 for the evening. They were happy and accommodating. The decor is very Belltown, with white chairs, doors that could double as windows (hence Ventana, Spanish for window) and great lighting. For a table of 12 ladies we had an adorable waiter. The food was amazing, we all seemed to want the brussel sprouts they were so good! I also had the Korean BBQ beef shortribs He paired it with some great wine and the cocktail orders were perfect. When we were done, they brought out a birthday surprise, and were kind enough to have the order already split. Ventana was the start to a great night. I've been back since for a drink and I have to tell you that the bloody boar is THE BEST bloody mary ever. Bacon vodka, chorizo salt, a piece of bacon as a stir stick, Yum! It's a great place, the staff is very attentive and on point, the food is great and the location couldn't get better. Pros: Great menu, great vibe Cons: Needs to be a lot more full! more

Ventana (window) to my heart 11/28/2009

We were there last weekend by happenstance, walking by on our way to our hotel. What a marvelous find. Nice to be away from Southern California for a week to visit the North-West and find such friendly and knowledgeable staff in a beautiful setting restaurant offering an exquisite small plates menu. My husband and I have come to almost always share one meal at most restaurants as too many offer too large (and less tantalizing) portions (not for money reasons but for calorie count)... It is so nice to have offerings of appropriate size with the perfect spicing, unusual but 'decadent' (in a good way) pairings, and beautiful presentations. Thank you for daring to open such a wonderful place. We will be back. Good luck with this new venture. Pros: Small Plate Menu, Staff, Views more

Good food and service, must try! 11/6/2009

we didnt' know about this restaurant until the bartender at Twist told us ventana just opened. It's cool that actually those 2 restaurants are connected. The bartender told me it's because they are using the same kitchen. So, we sat at the bar and looked at the view outside, amazing! Go there before dark and you probably able to see the sun set. About the food, I think it's a good idea that they are serving small plates like Black Bottle. I ordered the cocktail ""Pom Pom"" and my friend ordered ""Bullet?"" They were both really tasty. Then we ordered oysters, to be honest I am not a big fan of those topping, kinda covered the actual taste of the kusshi. Beet salad was good, portion was just about right, love the presentation. We also ordered the ribs, OMG, that smoky flavor was soooo good. our waitress is very professional, they changed plates between courses. Beautiful smile and funny! That's what we need at Belltown. Pros: atmosphere, service, wine selections Cons: little bit too noisy in the restaurant, parking more

Great view, amazing food 11/2/2009

Went here this past weekend with some friends, enjoyed the small plates, intimate setting, and wine. The place has a great view of Elliot Bay from giant picture windows. I really enjoyed the oysters as well as the scene that was going on around me. Cool Belltown spot Pros: View, Small plates more

Beautiful location for a creative turn on small plate dining 10/30/2009

I am happy to see another good restaurant boldly use the phrase small plates and not get caught in the misguided world of what is a tapa. Unlike a traditional tapas place which is often based off cramped atmospheres that force you to get to know your neighbors and require much patience to hold you in between the slow delivered plates, Ventana is somewhere closer to home for the typical diner. The plates are small and packed with flavor and a definite intent to make you open your mind to new pairings. The Watermelon-Ahi Satay catches your eye on the page immediately, however I found the bean soup with fois gras and pork belly, as well as the incredibly flavorful ribs to be the show stealers at my particular dinner. There is a Burata cheese salad that is light enough that it goes down like air and makes you ask the waitstaff just what it is they are doing in the kitchen to make the dairy so refreshing. I have to also call out that the waitstaff is incredibly helpful and attentive as they were always around when we needed another drink or dishes needed to be cleared. The Wine list by the glass had good diversity and I was pleased with the Malbec and Sangiovese I had with my meal. And as last punch, try the red Velvet Cake. I of course thought this was going to be the trashy box cake I am often familiar to when frequenting backwoods barbecues, but this thing was GOOD. Like if it was the only thing I ate there, it would still be good. Pros: unique cuisine, location, great wine list, excellent service Cons: parking in Belltown more
