Venice Pizza & Restaurant

Ordered salad and pizza. Delivery was fast and delivery person was courteous. Was very disappointed in the pizza, it had that sitting around look to it, I am certain that it was not freshly made, I have a feeling it was a pie that was originally made for slices. I have ordered from Venice many times before, and this was the first time I was disappointed. Everyone is entitled to a bad night. more

I ordered the 1/2 Sicilian pizza and it looked and tasted like the frozen pizza you get at the grocery store. The small salad was the smallest salad I've ever received and it cost $3.50. Don't think I will be ordering from them again. The bacon cheeseburger and cheesesteak were just okay. more

Vegetarian Panini was disgusting. I've had it several times before here because I really want it to be good, and I keep hoping it's just a mistake. However, I won't be trying it again. Eggplant was weird, too thin, and rubbery. Rapini was stringy and impossible to chew through. Mushrooms weren't cleaned and tasted like dirt. The bread was the only tolerable part. Every time I eat there, I end up having a stomach ache. Don't bother. I've also had their Bruschetta which is more like hoagie toppings, and their pizza has too much raw garlic and isn't worth the heartburn afterwards. Unless I see "Kitchen Nightmares" rolling in with a Gordon Ramsay makeover, I won't be back. more

I will NEVER EVER eat in this restaurant again. I purchased a Groupon for Venice Eatery in Pitman, NJ and went to redeem it Friday night. The four of us were seated at a table for six at 7:20 pm smack dab in the middle of the tiny over-crowded dining area. My first impression of the place was cramped and out-dated; in dire need of sprucing up. Upon seeing my Groupon on the table, the waitress informed us that Groupon customers could not be served until after 8 pm on ""weekends."" This information was NOT printed on my Groupon nor did I receive an email stating a change or correction to my Groupon. It was not posted ANYWHERE IN THE RESTAURANT. \r We had to leave and come back at 8 pm! \r Can you believe that? \r Wait, it gets better. \r When we return at 8 pm, we are seated at the exact same table we just vacated 40 minutes prior! Our napkins were exactly where we left them. Nothing had been touched. The hostess said, ""I have no idea why these napkins are like this."" I replied, ""That's because we were just sitting here and this is where we left them 40 minutes ago."" \r This was an IMMENSELY EMBARRASSING experience for us, not to mention PATHETIC customer service, blatant DISRESPECT for Groupon customers and ABOMINABLE unprofessionalism. Even worse, it was my BIRTHDAY! I decided to try something different for my birthday dinner. I should have stuck with the other Italian restaurant across the street. \r I ordered the chicken parmigiana ""showstopper."" The chicken soup was weak, the salad was nondescript, (it was so bland) the chicken parmigiana was tasty and the pasta was watery. The bread pudding was good, but I never met a dessert I didn't like. Our waitress was excellent and we left her a very large tip. She genuinely felt bad for us and she was very apologetic. \r While this restaurant seems to be a neighborhood favorite, I found the whole experience to be quite DISTASTEFUL. There are so many good Italian restaurants in Washington Township and Gloucester County that I wouldn't waste my time or my money returning to this place. more

My experience at Venice which has become my favorite place to eat when Im in town was fantastic each and every time . I ate the scallops and shrimp which was excellent while the rest of my party ate the showstopper dinner which is so cheap at 11.95 its almost for free. The showstopper featured dinner entree, homemade soup and homemade dinner bread, salad, dipping oil and dessert too!! The food was all homemade each time I ate there and the prices are so very reasonable it is well worth your time as you will be very happy!!! I dont know of too many places where you can eat delicious homemade food at such a great price. The owner Ron and his staff should be commended, keep up the great work. If you are going to Venice on the weekend , you should make reservations!!!! more

Venice is expensive and certainly NOT worth the money or trouble. The owner and the waitresses tout the ""homemade"" dishes. The owner might make them from scratch (which I doubt,) but he most certainly freezes the dishes to be reheated later, I had pasta in a white sauce, easy, simple to make and cheap right? Wrong, wrong, wrong. The food was frozen and then reheated, the sauce was too heavy (because it is purposely made to be frozen and then reheated so its heavy so it doesn't break when freezing) and it was bland. I forget what my wife had...it is that forgetable! She didn't like hers either. Waitrees was overbearing and talked way too much. We are very nice people and put up with alot of crap because we want to eat well. This place's food sucked, was not what it was touted as, and the owner chef was kind of snobby. It was too expensive also--we are not cheap and will pay full price, but this place strives to be an authetic Osteria, charges too much for it and doesn't deliver. P.S. Mr. Owner/cook-people can tell when something is frozen and reheated. You can call it homemade if you want, but please add ""and then frozen and reheated."" more

I went to this place because I read in the newspaper that he gave free Thanksgiving dinners to less fortunate families and like to support places who give back (there aren't many left). Pros: Taste of food, prices Cons: none! more

I have eaten dinner here several times and all their food is to die for. I also enjoy the atmosphere in their dining room. On Sat. nites they have live entertainment in the dimly lit romantic dining room. One side of the building is used for people eating sandwiches or pizza while the dining room is for dinners. Always a lot of people there on the weekends.Their latest brioled crabcakes are real crab and delicious. On sundays they have dungeness crabs which are fantastic as well. This place has the best food , friendly staff and great atmosphere. I park in the parking lot behind the business. Pros: best dinner entrees more

The owner is the rudest person on Broadway as he bothers you when you are on your lunch time by complaining that you are sitting at his tables in the back instead on the booths. Greasy pizza is another reason to avoid this place altogether. more
