After going to a big-box retailer, a high-end consignment store and a boutique, I didn’t think I’d find a dress that matched my vision. But Vanessa’s is what a wedding gown shopping experience is meant to be like! For the first time in months they actually made me feel happy about my wedding. The other bridal stores I visited in the Chicago area were operated like an assembly line, they are designed to make you feel like nothing special kind of bride. The ladies at Vanessa’s truly understand what a girl needs in order to choose the right gown. Amanda really listened to me—even when I wasn’t sure what I wanted. After working with consultants at other stores who only heard “tulle” or “mermaid,” it was incredibly refreshing to work with someone who listened and offered choices that met my unspoken needs. I loved how laid-back and chill the experience was, Vanessa’s Bridal turned my horror-filled wedding dress shopping experience into the happy, relaxed affair that I had hoped for! more

I purchased my wedding gown at Vanessa’s Modern Bride last year and had wedding this year. I absolutely had a great Vanessa’s experience. My great Vanessa’s experience included buying my dream wedding gown and receiving alteration service. Vanessa’s stylist was superb and provided consistent service throughout the process. I don't know where to begin with how happy I was with Vanessa's! Let me start by saying I know they have had a bad reputation in the past. My sister in law had a HORRIBLE experience 5 years ago (which I witnessed), but since they changed owners and a lot of the staff in Spring 2011, I can personally attest to it's improvement. Not only is the new owner the designer of many of the dresses, but she is almost always on site to discuss fit, modification, anything you need regarding making your dress unique and perfect. Beth and Lisa are absolutely wonderful! I've been working mostly with them since June on everything from matching jewelry, shoes, to bustiers. They always have time and an honest answer for me, and have never pressured me into buying anything from the shop if I don't like it. They've really created a wonderful EXPERIENCE for me, not just provided me with a dress. And the cherry on top... They were so wonderfully sweet to my mom. That means more than anything they could have done for me personally. Above and beyond service! more

I was nothing but excited to visit this place - so excited in fact, that I made this a number one spot on my list of bridal salons. Everything was fabulous until I decided to walk through the door. The lady didn't even bother to do as much as to get up from her comfy chair in the back of the salon, let alone ask us if she could be of any help. Not only did I feel unwelcome but I felt as if I was wasting her precious time (not a living soul was in the salon). At one point my phone buzzed upon receiving a text message which made me look at it when she literally jumped out of her seat SCREAMING that there were no pics allowed unless I was buying something. Without allowing me to explain that I was not even planning to take any photos, she had me show her my phone to prove that I indeed did not take any photos!!!!!! She was beyond rude and disrespectful. Wonder how much longer she'll keep this place open with this attitude of hers! Even though their dresses were worth looking at, I would rather give my business somewhere, where they know how to treat their customers. I recently purchased my wedding gown from Vanessa's and I loved every minute of my experience there. In the past, I purchased 2 bridesmaid gowns from Vanessa's and so when I got engaged I knew that Vanessa's was one of my top picks to find my dream gown. Vanessa and Lisa are always very hepful. They are extremely professional and really helped make this big decision a very easy one. I also love that Vanessa's carry a wide selection of gowns. I did go to a few bridal stores before going to Vanessa's and they do not even compare as far as selection and service. For any brides trying to find that one special place to feel very well taken care of, go to Vanessa's you will not be disappointed! Pros: Great Atmosphere...One on one service, most times you are the only one there! Cons: Can get a little pricey, but the selection beats any ""chain"" bridal stores more

I love Vanessa's Modern bride they have been my favorite wedding vendor. I have worked with Vanessa and Lisa to pick out my wedding gown and my bridesmaid dresses, they have been wonderful. They have been so nice and honest through the whole process it is very refreshing, most wedding vendors have been a headache so I am happy anytime I get to work with Vanessa's. I am in the process of getting my fittings and they are just making everything so easy, I highly recommend Vanessa's Modern Bride. more
