One of my favorite restaurants in Walnut Creek... 9/15/2005

I worked in Walnut Creek for several months as a consultant and dined out nearly every night. Va de Vi quickly became the favorite restaurant of almost everyone in the group. While a little pricey and loud, the food was superb. Favorites dishes included the Kobe beef, fish specials (ahi tuna, salmon, etc.), and ribs. The wine selection was also very good, and the wine flights (3 generous pours) were particularly popular with the group. Also, the desserts are FANTASTIC. There is a chocolate souflee that is one of my favorite deserts anywhere. They also have a dessert sampler tray that was great as well. Parking is available in the free parking deck across the street, and reservations are definitely recommended as this place can get very very busy. Also, the meal works best for groups of 2 to 5 because of the noise and dish sharing. Pros: Fabulous food, Good wine selection, Upscale atmosphere Cons: Loud, Pricey more

worthy of praise 7/18/2005

I don't always agree with Michael Bauer, but in the case of Va de Vi I do. It is one of the best restaurants I have been to in the Bay Area. The food was very tasty and interesting. My favorite dishes included anything seafood, like the tuna roll and salmon. Although, the sahimi plate was just ok. Love it! 4/23/2005

The food is delicious, the wine selection incredible. Its a fun place to go with friends to share some of the small plates and have a cocktail (or two). The ahi tartare and crab cakes are my favorite and the menu often changes so there is always something new to try. The prices are fair for the quality of food. The wait can be long and it gets pretty packed, so if you can, plan ahead and make reservations. The service is just average as a whole, but there are a couple amazing servers on the staff if you are lucky enough to get one. Its my favorite restaurant in Walnut Creek. Definitely Go... 12/9/2004

... you can't beat the outdoor bar tables on a hot July night in Walnut Creek. Food is excellent (by SF standards), however, I will say the portion size is small - but it is meant for you to order several plates and share. The bar area is small and becomes crowded, but still worth a trip. Walnut Creek is increasingly becoming home to too many ridiculously ""young"" bars... this is one for the adults! Don't waste your time 11/10/2004

I have been to Va De Vi several times now and find the service poor and the attitude just plain rude. The small plates are at big plate prices but some of the item on the menu are tasty. I don't recommend it! more
