A great veterinary facility! 12/17/2008

I have been here before and being that they are part of a group of hospitals, it is great to know that I can get the needed medical care for my pets with teh friendly and compassionate care of a smaller clinic. They treated me with nothing but care and respect and the same for my dogs. I know they just recently became part of a hospital group so I would encourage people to give them a chance and realize that great medical care does come with a price, but it is worth it! Pros: Comparable to clinics around the area, convenient location, caring staff Cons: None that I can think of. more

caring, knowledgeable staff and reasonable costs..... 9/22/2008

Our 8 mnth blk lab. lethargic & sick w/ vomiting & diarrhea 12 hrs(Fri.pm- Sat.am), required immediate medical attention. Since our regular vet. was unavailable on weekends & not knowing if it was an obstruction-major deal -"stomach bug"-minor deal, we needed to seek an alternate source of care that wouldn't cost "an arm and a leg" just by walking through the door on a weekend. After calling around to a few hospitals, explaining our situation and being told that they were unable to "fit our emergency situation" into their schedule, I was relieved when Whitman Animal Hosp. told us to come over immediately. After careful handling, x-rays and full exam. by Dr Brown, we were then referred to a larger animal hosp. equipped to perform surgery- x-rays in tow. They even called ahead for us and alerted the them before we left. My husband and I were impressed by the staff's knowledge, thankful for their friendliness, accommodations and caring attitude and RELIEVED that the cost for their em more

Bella's mom 9/18/2008

I went (notice past tense) to Whitman Animal Hospital. My original vet there retired. I trusted him. I stayed with them because I thought they would be good for my dog. She had a lot of different doctors there, never seemed to get the same doctor. Her last few years I kept bringing her in because her urine was cloudy and then a long time later it had blood in it. Kept giving urine samples and nothing was ever detected. I felt like I was an over reacting mother each time I brought her in. Long story short....She died of lung cancer....secondary site....it started in her kidneys. Maybe they should have caught it years earlier I don't know. Why didn't they catch it? I've asked myself that question for a long time. She's gone and I still miss her, it's been a year. I will never go back there. They do have one thing going for them, the staff is friendly. more

What A Racket! 5/30/2008

I recently brought my cat to the Whitman VCA b/c he needs to be neutered according to the regulations of the complex I was moving to. I called to make an appt. and was told that since my cat hadn't been to a vet in 1 1/2 years he'd need a full physical, shots and bl00d work-up to make sure he could handle anesthesia for the surgery. Over the phone I was told this would cost me approximatey $136 - I was infuriated b/c I wouldn't spend that much on myself let alone a cat! But I didn't feel I had any other choice... the "good" people at Waggin' Spay say I make "too much money" so I had to go and pay a real vet for the procedure. Pros: Close by to where I lived Cons: Unreliable estimates, too much emphasis on "up-selling" the customer, no income guideline flexibility or sliding scale, no flexibility for choice of services - every service is a "must" more
