DO NOT TAKE YOUR BELOVED ANIMALS HERE 10/4/2011

Oh I never had ever had such a negative experience with a doctor. So I went today and here is how the desaster unfolded. In gerneal WORST experience ever especially Dr. Amie Knieper.\r I was to switch vets for a cast a neighbot gave to me after all documents were transferred I arrived for my 5pm appointment early at 4:50pm. I was not serviced until 5:20pm. The nurse \r \r was actually nice and nothing wrong with her, she really tried to be nice, no fault with her. Dr. Knieper finally entered the room...never had experienced asuch a cold doctor \r \r before...something was wrong with her, I think she was stressed or overwhelmed, definetly not in a good experience to see animals. My kids sensed the same. During exam she insisted \r \r repeadetly for me to step back and not touch my cat as she stated "it is her time to examine the "the animal" (might as well have said "the thing") and step back with no reason given. \r \r The cat was obviously stressed and panicked. WORST ANIMAL HOSPITAL EVER 11/4/2010

I dont like VCA at all .My dog bite my other dogs eyes and she had an infection .We took her to vca and they chraged us 400 something.Right then 2 or 3 weeks we came for a checkup they didnt tell us we needed to pay 53 dollar so then they called our house a month later saying we owe them 53 dollars??What the heck is that I wouldnt refer VCA TO anyone at all dont come here come to a diffrent animal hospital there gonna keep on charging you more

Depends on who you get for a vet 6/7/2010

AT VCA Orchard Plaza it really depends on who you draw for a vet here. I took my two cats there for years and was very happy. The staff was especially nice. One day my male developed a problem and I drew a vet at VCA that I had not worked with before. He was given an ambiguous diagnosis - with estimates for a $700 procedure, just for tests to get started on the problem. I took him over to Bloom Valley Animal Hospital and he received a clear diagnosis and treatment plan for $139 the same day. The VCA vets must get paid on commission for the services they can bill. It's unfortunate for their reputation that this can result in very inconsistent service experiences for their clients. Most of the vets there are first-rate people. more

VCA is the most expsensive vet in town. 10/1/2009

Bottom line -- VCA is the most expensive vet in town. The quality of care is ok, but their #1 concern is money, not your pet. If you want true, honest quality care, find a different vet who doesn't have dollar signs in their eyes when you bring your pet in for an exam. The staff is friendly, yes, but doesn't excuse the mark-up on prescription prices and xray costs and infinite add-ons to any procedure that are not necessary but they make it sound as if they are in your pets best interest.. just not your pockets, unfortunately. more

don't go here 6/5/2008

I lived around the corner from this place and took both my dogs here. Different vet every time. I've had to take one of my dogs back several times because they didn't do everything they said they would. Stupid me, I took my dog back to have some shots done and get his nails trimmed. I called to talk to a vet because the dog may have some side effects from the shots. The woman at the front, Cathy, said I should bring him in. I explained what was going on. She said she'd talk to a vet and put me on hold. a few minutes later she gets back on the phone and said I should bring him in. She never talked to a vet. I'm sick on the high prices and the poor customer service I get from this place. more

The Best 5/1/2007

I was a loyal client of Dr. Wong's until I had to move away. She helped my animals and ME through many tough times from regular checkups to illness, a broken back and euthanasia. She and Orchard Plaza Animal Hospital are the best I have ever dealt with anywhere and anytime. I just wish they had been able to move with me. I highly recommend them to everyone. more

more misses than hits 4/25/2007

I live 2 minutes from this vet so it has been convenient for emergencies, but more often than not, they have wrongfully diagnosed many of my pets- rabbit, dogs, and cat. My puppy was given a live Parvo injection and he got Parvo right after, and nearly died! My husband explained to them why he's certain Rusty (my puppy) contracted it because of them and they became real defensive and nasty. Needless to say, they no longer give live Parvo injections. Another time, I took my rabbit in and they must have done 20 tests only to find NOTHING! I ended up taking him to a specialist and they found out he was allergic to some plants in our side yard. A friend of mine used to take his cat there, but when his cat became paralyzed and couldn't move his legs, he tried to come in for an emergency visit and was told they couldn't see him until the following day!!!!! He had been loyal to this vet for three years and now when he needed them the most, they turned their backs on him. I will say, I had one more

Vca Orchard Plaza Animal Hospital has great, experienced and knowledgable veterinarians. Great people who understand their practice well. They are knowledgable and do their job right. Hit or Miss 10/6/2005

Depending on who you get and whether you get the actual vet or an assistant really plays into how good your visit will go. We have been for a few things, the first was kennel cough shortly after we brought her home from the shelter. This was diagnosed immediately and taken care of. The second time was due to a food allergy and we had MANY expensive unnecessary tests done for mites and other problems only to find out it really was just a food allergy. more
