Editorial review from Citysearch 11/10/2012

Service so bad it scares me (and at the cost of my pet's life). I created an account just so I can review this place. I was watching my girlfriends cute little black cat Jazzmine while she was out of town. I noticed towards the end that she was being lazy and not eating so I called my girlfriend and she decided that this behavior was not normal and I should take her to the vet. it was later in the day on a Sunday and the only place open was met vet. so I went there expecting great service from the new and clean building. But when I got there I was really met with what I thought was an attitude because I was young And they thought i didn't have a lot of money. Which was true at the time because I had just purchased my first house and was very broke from paying all the fees and mortgage. My girlfriend on the other hand had plenty of money at the time, she was just out of town. Before they even asked what was wrong with Jazzmine they asked me for my credit card numbers or how I would be paying. I told them the situation and very reluctantly they took jazzmine back into the offices. after a while they came out and told me that the test they were running were expensive and that if I did not pay them at least 400 dollars up front that I would have to take Jasmine home and they wouldn't be able to help her. I told them that I didn't have that kind of money right now, not even on a credit card and the owner was out of town. they basically didn't respond, walked away and came back with the cat in a box screaming and meowing and told me she probably wouldn't make it through the night without medical attention. I explained again that the owner was out of town and that in fact she was heading home right now so she could take care for her cat but wouldn't be back till the morning and that she would gladly pay for any expenses no matter the amount as long as her cat was okay. they basically told me ""their boss was not happy and to pay now or get out we are closing"" then suggested that I use the title for my car as collateral so they could hold it until they got paid. now I thought it was at a vet clinic not a mafia gambling house. the title for my car... seriously?... so I'm sitting in the parking lot with the cat still screaming in the crate, trying to calm my girlfriend down on the phone. she had manage to get her dads credit card numbers so that we can pay the greedy folks NOW to take care of the cat. so once they got their money they came out to the parking lot and took Jasmine back inside. they then billed the credit card for 2 to 300 dollars more than they quoted us. ONLY TO GET A CALL 2 HOURS LATER SAYING THAT JAZZMINE HAD PASSED AND THEY WERE TERRIBLY SORRY. they didn't seem very sorry when they were demanding their money. And from other vets that I have talked to and everything I read on the internet, in her condition which was severe anemia, she should have never been unhooked from the I.V. not even for 10 minutes let alone the hour I sat with her in the parking lot while they waited to get paid. absolutely disgusting human beings work at this facility. none of them even show the slightest remorse, and even after she died they were still hounding us about the remaining 150 dollars. I have never ever been in such shock at the disregard for an animals life by people who are supposed to be saving it. I would avoid this place at all cost if I was you, unless it is an emergency and you have a big check ready to write. my heart is forever broken, let alone the months my girlfriend's been crying. we still haven't got another cat were so upset about it and it's been a year. shame on you met vet... Poor customer service 5/19/2012

Doctors were great but ofice staff is terrible. They ignore you when you come in in lieu of whatever else they may be doing and then it takes you longer to pay and leave than it did to be seen by the doctor. Terrible cutomer service and ridiculous waiting times. We have gone with our dogs several times out of convenience and each time there has been some issue. They also charge as much as $20 for a tiny bit of Benadryl (for a 19 lb dog)! Doctors were fabulous, but there are good vets at places with better operrations/administrative staff. We are done with them. Unless you have a dire emergency I recommend going elsewhere. more

The best... 3/28/2011

I've been going to MetVet since 2004. I have 9 cats and rescue/TNR ferals, so I've been to many vets over the years and this place is my favorite. \r \r Over the years, I have had the middle-of-the-night emergencies, surgeries, treatment of chronic diseases (kidney and thyroid), help with the decision of when it's time to say goodbye to elderly cats who were very ill and suffering, as well as the normal routine appointments. My cats are the most important thing in the world to me, and I am most comfortable with Met Vet as their primary caregiver. \r \r All of their vets are great, but my new favorite vet there is Dr. Hill. He is absolutely wonderful. \r \r To the people complaining about the cost: I don't know any vet that doesn't require payment upfront; it is how they stay in business and have the best equipment and help available. It's a financial burden for sure, but having a pet is a lifetime commitment and I'll always find a way to pay for the best care. I honestly don't see much of a more

Great Place!! 2/27/2006

I brought my cat here for an emergency appointment on a holiday. The staff was very knowledgeable and compassionate. The doctor explained things to me in a way that made even the most complicated things easy to understand. I had certain financial concerns but I wanted to have the necessary procedures done. They were able to work within my budget in order to give my cat the best care possible. My cat had to stay for several nights and there was always someone with him. I also got daily updates from the doctor. I have transfered all my pets here because I know that my pets life has in the past, and may once again, be in their hands. I have full confidence in them. I am willing to pay the extra dollar or two because I know that that dollar is going towards having the best staff and equipment possible. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet, with the confidence that they would not be disappointed. The doctors and staff are of the highest caliber, and they actually care more

Experienced staff, Open 24-hrs, High tech care 8/1/2005

Before I moved to FL, I had taken my dog here for quite a while. I was always satisfied with the quality of care he received, preventative and surgical. I felt the vets & techs there really knew their stuff. They are also open 24 hrs for emergencies which is reassuring. I would highly recommend them, although some may feel their prices are a little high, however I would rather pay more and know my baby is well taken care of. PROS: Knowledgeable staff, hi-tech equipment, open 24 hrs CONS: Somewhat pricey more
