Are the people writing the reviews for this salon employees of Urban Gypsy, or family members of somebody that works there? This salon is terrible! The inside of the salon is a cluttered mess! A couple of the stylists have outdated feathered hair! The stylist that colored my hair put one strip of color right down the middle of my head! more

i've been going to urban gypsy for a few years now, and i just wanted to let all of you, who are searching for a salon know how much i love it. urban gypsy always gives me a confimation call the day before and everyone is so nice to me when i walk in, they pretty much all know me by name! props to hannah for always giving me a gorgeous style and color! you know its great when you don't even have to style it and you get compliments!!! thank you ladies!!! I was nervous for my first haircut at Urban Gypsy because my first haircut in Indy hadn't turned out well at all. It was awful. I decided to try Urban Gypsy after going there with a friend so I called and scheduled an appointment with Leah. Leah really took her time listening to what I wanted and how I wasn't happy with the last stylist who cut my hair because she didn't listen. Leah understood exactly what I was looking for and took time to explain how she would cut my hair and exactly how to style it so it would turn out similar to how she styled it, because you can't ever get your hair to look exactly as it does when you leave the salon:). My hair looks outstanding! I called that day, and Erin was able to get me in. I was nervous at first because I am new to Indy, and didn't know where to go. She made me feel so comfortable, and gave me exactly what I wanted! Plus, I told her that, I always have trouble styling my hair, and can't get it to look the way that the professionals do, she took a few extra minutes, giving me pointers and explained the style in simple steps. It's been a few weeks and every day my hair has looked great. more

Found them on naturalcurly.on the web. From the first phone call every one was so nice and friendly, something you dont always see here in Indy. Leah did a wonderful job on the color and cut. My color was a big ol' mess from going to other ""Top Salons"" here in the area and it's the best it has looked in awhile. She re-shaped it and took the time to give me pointers on fixing it. more

I enjoyed my visit to Urban Gypsy in Broad Ripple. It was great to find out that they had their own parking. When I go to the village it can be a problem if a business is on the main drag but I parked steps away from the door. I got the best hair cut and they run specials for new clients on color if you add a cut. I had my hair high lighted for the first time and it is beautiful.I am going back in 6 weeks and I bought some great earrings too. more

I had a great experience had my hair cut and colored by Andi Dickover and was very pleased. She listened to me and gave me her thoughts on the color and I went with what she thought I should do. It turned out fabulous !!!!!!! Pros: Thumbs up!!!!!!!1 more

I was told not to go Urban Gyspy last year from a friend of mine for her own reasons, but gave it a chance anyways. Like many of these reviews it started out nice of the phone and in the introductions, but my stylist had no clue what she was doing. She had to ask questions on how she was cutting my layers to the woman at the front desk and if my color was done right. I understand when your in training, but no one explained to me that I was going to be a guinea pig that day in that salon. She had me facing away from the mirror majority of the time as she styled for whatever reason and didn't turn me around til I asked 1/2 way through. I don't know if it was to save herself from me seeing the damage or if that was her technique. But in the several years I've had my hair styled I've never felt so nervous and to see the end result, it wasn't pretty. It was nothing like what I told her I wanted, not even close. I guess, I should have listened to my friend. more

I recently moved from the west coast to Indianapolis's Broad Ripple Village area.I was looking for a new salon and found Urban gypsy on Citysearch. I went for my first appointment over the holidays . I had never been there, but heard mix reviews from people who actually went there not employees writing reviews. The people at first seemed nice on the phone, but my hair stylist didn't listen to anything I said about my hair. It seemed she thought she knew better. I politely was explaining to her about how my hair lays when certain treatment is done to it and she ignored me and started to talking to someone else while I was in her chair. She seemed to have an "" I don't care"" attitude. This was my first time there and it will be my last. more

I had the best time at this salon !! Everyone was friendly and took great care of me. My hair has never looked better. My stylist Mary did an amazing job on my color. I decided at the last minute to get a pedicure with the nail tech at Urban Gypsy. Her name was Tonya and they said she was very difficult to get an appointment with so I guess I was lucky. She gave me the best pedicure I have ever had. I have already booked my next 2 appointments. I also bought some gift certificates to give to my best friend and my mom. Pros: Great service more

I hadn't had my hair cut for over three years before coming to Urban Gypsy. I was really nervous because every other salon I have been to butchered my hair. But when I stepped in the door I instantly felt comfortable and not so scared to get my hair cut! Erin greeted me with a warm smile and took down my information very kindly. The whole staff is so pretty and very nice. Mary Ann cut my hair and did a wonderful job. She even showed me some quick styling tips. Everyone was so sweet and nice! I love you girls! I went to Urban Gypsy after reading about it on Citysearch . What a nice group of professionals and relaxing surroundings. Erin worked with me and did a wonderful job. She corrected a color job that a very expensive salon on the north side of Indy had botched. I payed that salon over $200 and they would not fix it. Erin at Urban Gypsy took the time to ask me all the right questions and did exactly what should have been done at the first salon. Call her she is great. Urban Gypsy even let me use a internet special they had going to help off set the cost and gave me a free brow wax for being a new customer. I have already booked my appointments through the holidays. Love you guys. more

My wife goes to Urban Gypsy ...so I thought I would give it a try and I had a great experience.I have been back every month since March and they do a great job. Nice and relaxing. I have been a customer at Urban Gypsy for more than 4 consecutive years. Hannah, Leah, and MaryAnn are all wonderfully talented stylists. The atmosphere is comforting and the cuts are top-of-the-line. All of the stylists are well trained...and will provide realistic expectations regarding cuts, styles and color. more

I had set up 5 hair appts for my wedding day and went in to have a trial run less than a month before my wedding. It was not the best style (which I was going to let pass), I felt rushed towards the end because her next appt. was walking back in forth in front of us, and they didn't even do my ""scheduled"" trial run for my makeup. So nevertheless I left unsatisfied. I then decided to look elsewhere in case the 2nd trial run they offered didn't go well either. I did find someone else to do my hair, but was going to keep my bridesmaids (4) appts. still there. When I called to take my name off the list for the big day, I was told that was fine. Two minutes later the owner called me personally and said "" I don't think we can help you anymore"". So basically she didn't think my other 4 girls and my makeup for the wedding was good enough, because I decided to go with someone else on my hair. I was shocked and upset that the OWNER of a business would actually call me a few weeks before my wedding and say that they couldn't help me anymore. We never had a contract and she from day one said if I needed to take a person off of the schedule, then it wouldn't be a problem. But apparently that wasn't the case. It was just bad business overall, but maybe I should have realized that after the first trial day. I work in bridal retail and see a lot of brides, bridesmaids, mothers, friends, ect. all looking for a nice place to go for there hair and always asking us where to go. :) They seem nice at first, but watch out. more

Each and every time I walk into Urban Gypsy Hair Salon, I feel like I walked into a friends house. The owner always cuts my hair. She is so nice and so friendly. She remembers each and every clients name and even their life story. I find that very very amazing. Even my friends used to go there after I told my experience.The price is also resaonable. I like the interior decoration of the Salon and it is so good. Just a neighorhood shop for the every day people. more

Hannah gave me the BEST haircut i have ever had--she took the time to listen to what i wanted and it came out better than i had hoped! Urban Gypsy has it all!The stylist and the nail techs are truely talented.I have never been to a salon were I didn't have to refix my hair style after it was done.The nail techs specialize in the pink and white look and when I leave I don't have to worry about my polish getting messed up because they buff it to a high gloss shine.The whole staff treats you as if they known you forever.It is truely a pleasure going there. Urban Gypsy, is a very up to date salon. They have the nicest people at the front desk, Cindy is fun! The stylists are very genuine, and know how to do hair. They are caring and very educated. I have had the best pedicures at UG. The nail tech is very gentle, and my polish last for 4-6 weeks. It's great. They are a full service with a great boutique as well. I go every year to but my Christmas gifts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! I have been to many salons, non compare to Urban Gypsy. Pros: Fun, Up Beat, Knowledgable, Great Prices! more
