Great School 9/14/2009

Pretty campus. New buildings going up on a regular basis. Great music, architecture, engineering, pharmacy, law, optometry schools. Just to name a few. Yes the campus is in a not so desirable area of Houston, but there are a lot of college campuses with this problem. more

Great school for great students 4/29/2007

I am a student at the University of Houston and love it here. The academic curriculum is good and I don't understand the complaints people have about it not being challenging. It depends on your courses I guess. The core is generally easy but I don't see the big deal with that as most of them are freshman classes so this is expected. My major also requires me to take upper level math, chemistry, and physics courses that I don't find easy, so I believe it depends on your major. And it is true that there is not much socializing on campus. Most students have to pay their way through school and because of this you won't find a lot of party animals or get togethers (I prefer it this way). However the students you will meet are genuine hard workers (most of the time) who put their education as top priority and know they can't rely on mommy and daddy to pay for their screwups. If you want a school where you can get a top notch education that won't swamp you in $60,000 of students loans, then UH is a wonderful option. If you are obsessed with image, then go to Texas A&M. more

Great school at an affordable price 11/18/2005

I think that this is a GOOD school. It's affordable for most students who are paying their way through school. Although it doesn't have a lot of things to do around campus because it is a commuter school. It does have challenging classes depending on what class you do take. I really like the education program here because of how helpful the professors are. Parking can be a pain sometimes but I can usually find a spot within 5 minutes or less. more

somewhat less than good 8/21/2005

The curriculum of the classes here does not challenge the university's students very much. The courses of the honors college are tougher, but still not enough. The students do not seem to care about it, either, and are very unmotivated. Most of them spend more time at work, and do not socialize with others as much. The good thing about the school is the price of admission, which is quite low. more

University! 8/21/2005

This is one great University. I plan on attending UH in the near future. The business school is one of the best and also the school of optometry is very good. The honors college is professional and challenging. Other cougar fans will get you psyched whenever game time comes. The dorms are ok, although I have heard from some that it smells like goats. Campus security is ok. more

Good college 8/20/2005

If you're not rich and you live in Houston, UH is a good place to go to. College is college and this is what you will receive. There is also a gameroom located here with ping pong tables, bowling alley, pool tables, and arcade. The library includes an extensive lists of books. It does have traffic during the afternoon though. more

Great Education for a low price 8/20/2005

If you're interested in a becoming a doctor or working in any medical profession, I recommend the University of Houston. Their programs are nationally and internationally reknown and have the abilities to help you get into a top notch medical school. UH has agreements with several medical schools such as Baylor and if you enter a certain program, you can get into medical school as soon as being an incoming freshman at UH working through the pre-med program. UH is the best Architecture and Design school in the state of Texas as well. If you want a great education and without the hype of big bills, you might want to check out the website. more

ok university, not a lot of dedicated students 8/19/2005

the classes at university of houston are not very challenging nor are the students very dedicated. a majority of the students are working full-time and do not have much time to hang out and socialize. if one wants a challenging class, one can enroll in the honors college. there is not much a social or coherent student body as every commutes in and works at other times. more

Great public school 8/18/2005

The University of Houston is a great public school located just south of downtown Houston. They offer a quality, affordable education to all comers in the Houston area. I have hired and know a lot of graduates of the school and love them all. Their academic departments are of a very high quality and I would be willing to send my own children their some day. I guess that is the best endorsement a school could get. You can not beat the price of tuition too! more
