Run away!!! Run far, far away. I get that car salesmen have to be aggressive, but at a certain point it becomes a hostage crisis. Then once you agree to purchase something you become the least important thing in the world. I walked in at 5:30 Sunday and didn't get home until 12:30. We waited at least an hour for the new car to get 'washed, detailed and a full tank of gas'. When they gave it to us, the inside was still caked in dust and I had to go get gas. Sure the salesman came with to pay for the gas, but what the heck was everyone doing while we waited? There were also a million little things that the salesman said that didn't exist once we were in the hands of finance. If you do choose to subject yourself to this place, bring a cheeseburger because you might be there for the equivalent of a work day. \r \r The next day the finance department called to let me know there were issues with my loan approval. He then went MIA for two days as I tried to figure everything out. Over the next week, I got jerked back and forth between the loan not being approved, then approved, then not, etc. Each time I was told I'd have to return the car, I made appropriate plans only to be told it was 'going' to be approved. This caused a ridiculous amount of stress and wasted a lot of my time and energy over two weeks. Finally, I spoke with the head of finance, who asked me to come in. When I got there, he had left sick and I was led into a room with four people who then proceeded to treat me like crap. Why did I drive over there for that?! At the end, the guy told me the loan was approved because they had told the bank that I made 3 times what I actually make. He blamed me for this even though the claim of income was NOT in my handwriting. \r \r Anything to sell a car and put someone else on the hook. RUN AWAY!!! more

Bunch of liars in this dealership 9/28/2014

Don't do business with these guys. Check their rating with the better business bureau a big "F". They rip you off, their prices are horrible, I bought a car last Sunday and what they do they confuse you with the deal and rip you off.\r I test drove a car and after we made the deal they told me they cannot give me that car because it is $2500 more!!! False Advertising. They even promise some free stuff and they wouldn't honor that. The sales people are just a bunch of lairs. Especially in internet sales department, a person called Mickey and the manager Tony. Don't ever do business with them. I lost $3000 over three years leasing a pathfinder from these guys. I will file a claim with BBB although they have an F rating with BBB!!! more

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID THIS PLACE\r \r We just bought a car from this place and I can't describe how dishonest, duplicitous, and horrible the people at this dealership are. I don't feel like retaining a lawyer but we are going to be forced to do so. This dealership has done nothing but lie to us. We were naive,we trusted them. We should have gone on Yelp first and read the reviews on Universal City Nissan's page. Check it out. You'll see what I mean. I wish I had entered this dealership with a lawyer, cop and a notary public flanking me. That would have been the only way to get these people to do things right. more

Anyone can give me references on core law? 7/25/2011

My Xterra kept on stopping today so I went to Universal City Nissan at about 2 PM. I was to replace catalytic converter. Estimate price is $1350. When I asked if I could have the old one, I could have it if I paid $140 to have the replaced catalytic converter because it has platinum on it. ""I could go and sell it and make money out of it, that's why people steal that part."" I googled ""core law"" but could not find anything resembling what my service rep, George, quoted me as the law. more

UNETHICAL 7/25/2011

I am 7 months pregnant and am on modified bedrest when we went to look at a car for my husband at your dealership in Universal City, CA this past weekend. When we asked where we can park close to the new cars, the salesmen instructed us to park on the street near the pre owned lot and told us that the new cars were there as well. He walked us almost 2 blocks in 90 degree weather and up the back of a 2 story ramp to what I realized was the rooftop inventory lot. That is when my contractions started. When I asked what was below us (knowing we were now above the dealership), he lied and said it was where they ""keep the trucks"". When we drove out to test drive, we clearly saw the the shaded free ""customer parking"" and the entrance to the dealership where the new cars were. I pointed this out to him and he replied that there was ""no more parking"" in the customer lot, despite the fact that it was clearly only half full. We drove the car and had him drop us off at our car because I could no longer walk. I proceeded to go home to lay down and debate on going to the hospital for hours because of preterm contractions. Your salesman put the health of both me and my unborn child at risk to snatch up a potential customer. I have never been so upset and disgusted. more

definitely need to improve customer service 7/5/2011

I am very satisfied witht he car I got, but the customer service was very disappointing I had to wait an hour before I got any attention. more

I loved the Customer Service 6/16/2011

thieves, liars and crooks 3/24/2011

If you want the worst car experience and enjoyed being lied to, then this is the place for you. The old bait and switch routine is alive and well here. I bout a 2011 Nissan Frontier from these crooks because no one else had the color/options I was looking for on short notice. No one knew where the truck was, then they couldn't find the truck they said they had, and then when I pulled out of the deal in the finance office after all was said and done, they wouldn't give me back my deposit check. had to come back the following day where they then couldn't find my file. In the end I gave up and bought the truck. Worst experience ever. more

Great Dealership--first time buyer 2/22/2011

I haven't had any problems with Universal City Nissan. In fact they saved my life last summer. I was without a car in LOS ANGELES of all places for about a month and a half and walked in with the very little down payment had and drove off the lot in the car that wanted. Granted I was there all day, but for the 5.5 hrs I was there, I would have spent that on public transportation anyway. \r \r I had never financed a car before and they walked me through the process and even after when I had questions, they answered everything. The service department is great too. When I need my oil changed I can get an appointment immediately-no hassle.\r \r I would say that your chances of no having to get a cosigner are better if your credit is above 700 and you have been @ your job for at least 3 to four years...and for me being a freelance artist they really surprised me because most people don't finance freelancers in this town. So, overall I would say they are A okay in my book. But, keep in mind..if more

dead battery and scratches 9/1/2010

way way to slow i was at the dealership for 8 to 9 hours plus my brand new car had a dead battery and scratches on 2 doors i will never go back more

to slow 9/1/2010

sorry I wish I could be nice but after 8 hours to buy a car and then to have a dead battery and scratches on is a big joke. I have great credit and just wanted a basic black Altima. I will never go back not even for a free oil change in which they tried to give me more

universal city nissan where your job is NOT your credit...co-signers are! 8/1/2010

These people are a joke. I have poor credit and according to their ads and website this would not matter since I have a job.\r \r 7/31/10 I went to look for a Maxima tested and took me in for financing. They came back asking for co-signers lol \r \r I do have co-signers my parents would not mind that have better credit. but, if I where to use a co-signer i think i would have gone to a better dealer like Toyota or Acura. \r \r \r universal city nissan where your job is NOT your credit...\r co-signers are!..... more

Fantastic Experience !!! 6/2/2010

After waiting 3 months I finally got my Nissan Cube. Wow, what a fun car. I called for a quote and found a great price when I called Universal City Nissan. After some friendly negotiations ( not that sleezy car dealer stuff ) I was able to negotiate a good deal and walked out of there very satisfied. The staff was friendly and helpful and I didn't have any problems. All-in-all it was a very positive experience. They were flexible in the finance department and they didn't try to sell me a kitchen sink. Persistent but not pushy. A good experience. Pros: Professional, Honest more

Super Service Department 6/2/2010

I bought my 350z at this dealership a couple of years ago and one of the things that impressed me the most was their service department. I had brought the car in according to the periodic check-ups and the staff has always been professional and courteous. Pros: Service, Respectful, Open Minded more

Great Selection of New and Used Cars 6/2/2010

Universal Nissan has an extremely good selection of new and used cars and I was happy when I found what I was looking for. It took a while to find a car that both my spouse and I could agree on, but the salesmen were happy to answer all of our questions. We were looking at a brand new dark blue Maxima, but then found something more in our price range: a 2009 Altima. I do have to say that the experience dealing with the sales team, management team and Finance was good. Pros: Friendly, Affordable more

Positive Experience 6/2/2010

Prior to purchasing our new Nissan Altima we did our homework by comparing various models on consumer reports, auto magazines, online reviews, etc. Then we went to several dealerships to make our best deal. Universal City Nissan exceeded our expectations by a mile. The sales process felt more like consulting and validating what we had researched. The negotiations felt honest and to the point and before we knew it we were offered attractive financing and drove off the lot with a brand wen car. Overall it was a very positive experience. more
