Best

Love this place. Great food - if you are feeling like something healthy or comfort food - at great prices

Worst

Trident has a lot of positive things going for it, yet it is one the biggest food disappointments we have ever encountered. We loved the idea of the bookstore/cafe. Isn?t that th...

Good Company 5/19/2006

Everyone loves to go here, I think it is awful but I go cause everyone else does. True it is a good atmosphere for late night in Boston especially if you're not into the bar scene. The service is AWFUL though (not enough of them), everytime I go, and the food is often just plain weird. Once I got fruit salad that tasted like garlic and I JUST last weeked got a poached egg that was so sour I had to spit it out because they put way too much vinegar in the boiling water. They also forget part of my order every time (and I go a lot.) When served as asked their sandwiches are pretty good though and I like their tea selection and the sweet potato fries rock. more

Nice place to hang out 4/13/2006

The food's not bad, too. Pretty basic stuff, but at slightly higher prices than other places (ahh, the influence of Newbury St.). Can get crowded with students, and the service isn't that great, but they let you sit for long periods of time even if you aren't eating anymore. more

Great Place to Sit and Read Magazines or Study 3/18/2006

I've spent so much time in Trident, either eating, studying, or reading magazines, I know the place quite well. The food is very, very tasty, but definitely overpriced. On the plus side, you can sit there and study all day, and no one will give you evil looks for it. The best way to do a Trident visit, is to order small: a bagel and coffee, something along those lines and then either relax with a magazine/book or study. Also, it is best to visit on a weekday. On the weekends, the place is very busy, filled with boatloads of tourists and snooty newbury peoples. more

All Day Breakfast, Top Momos 3/18/2006

The breakfast may not be cheap ($8 for two pancakes) but at least you can get it at 10pm. All the food is good here except the salads, which are on the sad side (basic house salad is OK). The Tibetan momos (dumplings) are a real treat, garlicky and accompanied by three dipping sauces. I understand they are made locally and delivered every morning. The $8 pancakes I've had were damn good, at least. You can also get beer, wine, a wide variety of teas, smoothies, and coffee drinks. The bookstore is terrific as well with a very good magazine selection. Busy at dinner hour and on weekends, but the staff won't bother you and you can stay there for a long time. Pay at the front desk before you leave and don't forget to tip your waitress, either at the table or on your card. Bathroom is halfway back next to the New Age section and requires no key. Free wi-fi. more

Good Selection, Great Food, and Excellent Service 10/23/2005

A true gem, this bookstore is more than just books and magazines. Nesteled in this small store is a fabulous cafe with food that is just fabulous! Everything I have tried is great and leaves me always wanting more. There is a nice selection of current bestsellers and magazines. The store also has a few readings and activities throughout the month that can easily be found out about by subscribing to the online newsletter. more

Go for a smoothie 8/15/2005

They make some good smoothies. A full page worth of smoothie selections. Good sweet potato fries also. It is within Trident bookstore so you can always be reading or browsing through a magazine as you dine. You could spend a whole day in there. Fair international selection of magazines. Not a gigantic comprehensive bookstore however. more
